I miss a Nauseatingly Overdone American Christmas...
« on: December 12, 2017, 10:16:37 AM »
Maybe it's just living in the southeast, but I miss the glitz and fever of Christmas that I would feel when out and about in the States. I went to London recently to my friend's birthday party at Fortnum and Mason and this reminded me more of the States, but Christmas on the High Street here just feels anemic. Is it just me?

Maybe it's where in the South East you are?? I'm in the South as well in Berkshire and there are loads of people around me with lights up on the outside of their houses and the high streets are decorated. We had a "Late Night Christmas Shopping" event in my village where everybody walks around the shops and socialises and there are food stands and stuff and it's lovely. I think it all just depends on where you are and what you're looking for I guess. I will say that it's more Christmassy where I live now than almost 2 years ago when I lived in Reading. The high street in Reading gets decorated and looks lovely/festive with pop-up christmas alpine bars buuuuut you wouldn't see many houses being decorated. Where I live now really has people going all out on the twinkle lights and it's lovely :D
