Update and more questions about spouse visa
« on: December 13, 2017, 12:05:58 AM »
I had been planning on applying for my visa in October but have been waiting for many weeks for my husband to finally get his letter verifying his payslips. He'd already had a letter his HR department e-mailed him, but it didn't include the part about the payslips. They only sent him a link to where he could print them (which is the same place he prints them anyway). Since it was e-mailed, he also didn't have a wet signature. He was also having trouble getting a hold of his manager, as he works nights, and he rarely ever sees her. He is a security concierge and usually by himself. He finally managed to talk to her over the phone one day, and she told him to e-mail PDFs of his payslips to HR to verify. He did this and listed the other things he needed in the letter. They e-mailed him today to let them know they sent the letter. Fingers crossed and hoping everything we need is in that letter as this whole situation has caused me a lot of anxiety, and I would like to somehow get everything in before Christmas or at least January 1st.

And my first question is about council housing. He hasn't been on housing benefit for years, but he does still live in council housing and pays the full rent. Is there anything we need to do other than mention this on the Appendix 2 form? (I'm hoping we don't need another letter)

Also, someone had mentioned providing logs (from Skype, etc.) of our conversations together. What stresses me about that is we have been together nearly 8 years and talk to each other pretty much every day. So, I have years of correspondence and can't print every conversation we've ever had. Exactly how much should I send?

Thank you.

Unfortunately you are going to need another letter, for the accommodation requirement, from the council and stating that they give you permission to live with your husband in the council property. You also need to send his original tenancy agreement.

For the Skype evidence over 8 years, definitely mention how often you talk but then maybe pick one conversation per month and try to compile this into a document. No content should be included.

The same was true for my husband. He lives in a council flat....for 20 years now but hasn’t had a housing benefit since the very beginning of his tenancy. On the application if I’m remembering it correctly I ticked yes, it’s council housing. But no he doesn’t get any benefit. We also sent his tenancy agreement and got a letter from the council stating I could live in the flat. And now here I am, living in the flat. 😊

Okay. :( Thank you. Hopefully he'll have an easier time with his council than his manager/HR department.

And can you clarify you mean by no content should be included in the Skype evidence? What do I copy and paste if not any of our conversations?

Just the call number/date/duration. Ksand says to think of it like a phone bill where you just see the number, date duration, that's all you need.

What if we speak mainly in text?

We mean, just include a list of calls - dates, times and duration, or a list of message dates and times... but no conversations themselves.

So, you can just screenshot the date/time and then crop out the actual messages, so you end up with just a list of dates/calls... like a phone bill.

Depending on how long you have been together/communicating, you can just paste a selection of calls/conversations.

So, if you've been together 8 years, just select maybe 6  calls or conversations per year (one every 2 months) and paste the dates/times of those calls/conversations onto a sheet of paper in a list... you shouldn't need to use more than 2 or 3 sheets of paper for all 8 years of Skype communication.
