What was the BBQ place you all love? I can't remember and I swear it was mentioned but I don't see it now!
The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.

We've got some friends who are Mormon and we stayed with them last time we went to Vegas.  In the morning my wife asked one of the kids where the coffee was.  There's nothing like a kid to give an honest answer while I giggled away in the background.  They were totally cool but did keep trying to convert my daughter.  Since ornireness is a sin, she wouldn't last long.

The caffeine restriction is the one I'd struggle with the most.  I love my caffeine.

I like Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses.

The main thing I like about Jehovah's Witnesses is the art work in the Watchtower. It has this sort of early 80s style. I like to think that the artists who work for the Watchtower are the last of the breed.

But I also am considering joining the Scientologists because of that e-meter thingy.  I like the idea of just having it on the coffee table, so when guests come over it would be sitting there. Would they ask about it?
I just hope that more people will ignore the fatalism of the argument that we are beyond repair. We are not beyond repair. We are never beyond repair. - AOC

I think someone (xoKissOfDeath, I think?) mentioned Bodeans. Even if they didn't, Bodeans is good. :)

haha was confused. Wasn't sure if that meant they couldn't have coffee. I too would struggle to be Mormon for that reason alone. I need coffee or I get headaches (Yes, I know that's bad LOL).

What was the kid's answer?!

Can confirm : Was Bodeans. It's f*cking phenomenal (in my opinion). I pig the f-word out when I go there! hahah I've not been for a while..I'm due a visit....Though I think I'm going to take Jim's lead and go with Chilango's (?) next time I'm in London,..not sure yet (I'm sure you'll all be on the edge of your seat for me to go to London next and update you!  ::) )

The kid didn't say anything other than "We don't have coffee in our house" but in a really shocked voice.

I thought it was common knowledge, no alcohol, no caffeine no premarital sex.  Backsliders are called Jack Mormons.  The joke is "The only thing Mormons don't recognise in the liquor store are other Mormons."

I once spent two weeks living in my VW Bus at Point of the Mount, Utah trying to hang glide.  It was surreal how much the non Mormons disliked the Mormons.  Finally, when I left, a State Trooper gave me an escort to the state line.

I didn't do anything to deserve it, just driving a VW Bus.  About 10 miles from the border, I noticed a state Trooper just driving right behind me.  As soon as I reached the state line, he made a  u turn.

If the London trip is still in the future, there is a Chipotle there that the Daughter says has not regionalized their flavoring to fit the UK palate. The only thing they do not have are lemons or limes to squeeze on your burritos or tacos.

I hate to bring this up, but is Lyonaria's friend coming from the US?  If so, <start lecture /rant>

I'd skip the pitiful excuses for bbq and burritos and enjoy something British.  Take her to an eel and mash restaurant on the east end, or the 24 hour bagel place on Brick lane, or any of the Indian restaurants on brick lane, or fish and chips with a deep fried Mars bar.  Make her eat some haggis!

However,I know deep in my heart that we sometimes just gotta do what the guests want, so no criticism meant for dear Lyonaria.
<\rant>
Isn't there a cirque de soleil show on these days?

Would absolutely skip bagels in that case then, as I've yet to have a bagel even close to as good as the ones I have back home in the US.

Have you been to the 24 hour shop on brick lane?  I think they claim to have invented bagels but I could easily be wrong

If they are Polish, it's possible? Do you know if they are online anywhere? Want to know what kind of bagels they have. I would give it a try, potentially...
