New York to Southend-on-Sea

Hi everyone,

I have been living in the UK since April 2017.  My partner is British, and we're a gay couple living in Southend-on-Sea (specifically Westcliff) in Essex.  I was born and raised in New York City, although had most recently been living in Rochester, NY.  My partner is a Londoner, but we decided to move out to Southend as the job I have working for the NHS is based in South Essex.

Would love to get to know other Americans in the area!

I lived in Shoeburyness for nearly a year. It was hell, but for reasons mainly not to do with the area!! (Mostly to do with the teacher training I was doing).

I did do a placement in near Westcliffe, and must say it was a lovely area!

Welcome! I am originally from Ohio and now living outside of Southend. My SIL works at Southend Hospital so I have heard more about the NHS in South Essex than I ever expected to hear. Hope that you are settling in well.

Thank you! I'm working in Basildon Hospital, so Southend has been a good area to be in that's close enough to work, but not tooo close.
