Phone call from Sheffield?

Has anyone with an unmarried partner or spousal visa application gotten a call from Sheffield (area code 114) from a number ending in 5000?

My UK phone rang today, and I rejected it instinctively because I'm in the US and have no idea how that will impact my bill. I always reject +44 calls when I'm here. However, I realized belatedly that my phone showed the call was from Sheffield. In a panic, I called back, but it just rang and rang.

I googled the number and forums seemed to report that the number is from a telemarketer. Still, I'm so desperate for information that I'm second-guessing that info. I don't know if I want it to be from the Home Office (because I want things to be happening with my case) or not (because I rejected the damn call).

Anyone experience this?

I can’t think of one case when Sheffield has called someone in your position.

They have called employers to verify employment information before but never directly contact an application via phone.

Sheffield doesn’t call people... if they need to contact you they will send an email.

If it says it was a telemarketer, then it was a telemarketer.
