Ooh. I am picking your brain once we move. And here I was all excited to have both Sainsbury's and Starbucks walking distance. (as long as we get approved!) Proper cured meat is one of my favorite snacks.

Are you moving this way?

I don't have a Starbucks anywhere near me but I'm not a coffee drinker.

Yeah, on the south side of Bracknell :) about 10 mins from KOD. Figured it is central enough to get where we need and have job options, but far enough from a city. We were really happy with what we saw while apartment hunting.

Do you know where a local Polish shop is?

It's a proper little Italian shop.  Loads of types of pasta (though no big pasta shells... boo).  They used to have a fantastic gluten free selection but it's quite small now.  Yes, they do sandwiches but as they are made to order... it can take little bit of time.  Same with pizzas.  Definitely some gems to be had though.

I went to the tip at lunch and waved at your building as I drove by.   :)

There is probably a Polish shop closer, but I know of two specific ones in Reading. can't remember the names of them but could explain where they were to you. One is by the Broad Street Mall.

hahah you should have told me and I would have ran to the window!  ;D

I go to South Hill park every Friday morning.  At least while I'm still on maternity leave.   :D

Awwww. We will have to take a UKY road trip sometime for pizza and visiting ;)

Looks like we will be approved as soon as I fill out an arbitrary form (I have no employment here so it doesn't matter) so we'll be neighbors in early February. One less stress! And access to this Italian shop. And a good night of sleep and getting my kitty back. Yay!!

Yippee, another animal lover!

I love animals.  Last night I played hide & go seek with a mouse.  He won, but it was a close match.  I did manage to catch video of him.  He's an adorable little wood mouse with the giantest ears.  He does belong outside, though.

I need a cat.  ::)

Yes, yes you do. Sadly mice are good at outrunning people because they can fit all the places we can't! ;) My cat would have a field day.

We looked at hypoallergenic cat breeds online last week.  I think I'd like to "borrow" a cat before we committed to one, though.  My husband was so miserable when I first moved over (I moved from a house that had cats in residence)... I don't want to see him go through that again.  I also wouldn't want to get a cat that we thought would be fine, only to learn it isn't and then disrupt it again.

Cats are more adaptable than you realise. Mine is skittish and settled in at my in-laws in a matter of days even without me there, after and international flight, 2 days at my husband's flat, and a long cab ride. If you go through a rescue organisation they are usually OK with a trial if you're upfront about it. It's common to need to make sure pets and people get along well enough! If you get a mainly outdoor cat it might help too ;)
