@ksand24 @KFdancer

Do we need to apostille our marriage certificate from US for my UK visa, taking into account that we are both non-US residents?

The main risk with re-application is that they may not like something different. For the new application, I will provide both old IELTS test and newly-ordered NARIC assessment... But it is always surprise in the very end as far as I understand...

Before you reapply, if you post your list of documents here on the forum, we can check over them for you and make sure you have everything and that it all meets the requirements :).

No, you do NOT need an apostille.  The UK full.y recognises ALL US marriage certificates.  And they are in English.  :)

Today I was scanning my appeal documents, and when I scanned in black and white - the quality of the IELTS certificate was bad - UKVI number wasn’t readable. If the documents are scanned in grey shades, it’s fine.

So, now I am thinking, that is what has happened. TLS Paris has scanned my documents in black and white, IELTS certificate wasn’t readable, and I got a rejection.

Whose fault is it for bad scanning, if I submitted the documents in the good quality?

But they must do that for each and every application?

As soon as I applied from Paris, I don’t think there are many people applying for spouse visa from here. Mainly people apply for EEA family permit, which doesn’t have language requirements.

When the girl was scanning the documents, she just scanned all the pile without looking at the screen.

Other than that I don’t have any other explanation. The immigration lawyer confirmed that my test was correct.

I am not sure where you are planning on getting married in the States but I would strongly recommend following the process for that state. My husband and I were married in NYC and they very clearly state on the site that in order to be valid internationally, you need an extended certificate with a clerk signature and an apostile stamp. I got 3 copies since it took three hours in person and would take 8 weeks from abroad. You mail the certificate to each office in sequential order.

Hi and welcome to the forum.  :). What’s relavent in this case is to follow the instructions from UKVI. A marriage certificate from the US does not need to be apostilled for the purpose of a UK visa application.

I also got married in NYC and have only ever submitted the short, non-apostille marriage certificate for my visas with complete and total success.  NYC has absolutely no idea what is or isn't required for UKVI.  Sorry that they sent you on a very unnecessary wild goose chase!  They tried to do the same to me.   :D

We are planning to get married in Florida. Correct me please if I understand procedure correctly or not:
1) we obtain a marriage license in the court
2) the wedding ceremony
3) after the ceremony we have to return the filled in marriage license back to the court
4) ask the court for the certified marriage certificate?

It will vary depending on the county you get married in.  They can vary from county to county.  :)

Very confusing for me... In our wedding package, "Legal filing of the marriage license" is included... But what is the process next I don't understand.

I submitted my application in Paris, as soon as I live in France.

Are you in France as a visitor? Or do you mean you got permission from France to be a resident?
