Have you read the guidance for filling out the form?

https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/680277/an-guide-feb-18.pdf

It tells you exactly what to do:

Well I'm screwed in the future with my two speeding tickets, and three moving violations X'D
Decision: Approved (04/11/2018)

I doubt they would affect anything, to be honest. They check them against whether or not they show a pattern of 'anti-social behaviour' which indicates you are of 'bad character'.

This is what the Good Character guidance states:

Quote
(c) The nature of the offences or the behaviour that led to other disposals. Decision makers should look at the nature of the offences involved, or the behaviour that led to an out of court disposal. For example behaviour involving anti-social behaviour, drug use, or violence may well indicate that a person’s character is such that their application should be refused (particularly if there is a pattern of such behaviour). In contrast isolated minor incidents such as traffic violations will not normally in themselves indicate that a person is of bad character. However, each application must be considered individually.

So I'm copying over my info from the old form onto the new form, but can't find the option on page 7 to satisfy the knowledge of language/life in the UK 1.22 question. On the old form there's a checkbox for if you're from an English speaking majority country.

This one only has

*I met the knowledge of language and life requirement to qualify for settlement on or after
28th October 2013

Does this mean ILR and I can check this? Otherwise seems they've made a mistake and will need to update the form yet again!!

**Not asking my referees to sign until the week before my appointment at the end of March in case they update again.

Yeah, it's not that one, which is on the old form too, in addition to the one about being a national of an English speaking country which is missing from the new form!

I haven't quite decided what to do about it yet, I was just going to add the correct one and check it but remembered that we're going to use the NCS so I can always ask them at the time what they suggest!

I'm glad you have the NCS appointment to ask at, and that you guys are going ahead of me.  I know you'll report back here so I'll know exactly what they want me to do when my turn comes.  Yay!
9/1/2013 - "fiancée" (marriage) visa issued
4/6/2013 - married (certificate issued same-day)
5/6/2013 - FLR(M)#1 in person -- approved!
8/1/2016 - FLR(M)#2 by post -- approved!
8/5/2018 - ILR in person -- approved!
22/11/2018 - Citizenship (online, with NDRS+JCAP) -- approved!
14/12/2018 - I became a British citizen.  :)

Yes, happy to! :)  They will have had a few come through by then so they should know what to do but even then this isn't really a big deal as the US passport will be in there anyway!  :)

I hope they'll know the answers, but when I called for the appointment the lady was telling me I needed to have ILR for a year etc and I was like no I'm married to a British Citizen and then she had to look it up! So don't know how educated they are about the immigration laws and requirements. I think they're given a checklist of what they're supposed to do and that's it! Mine is at the end of March so I'll let y'all know how it goes  :o

Yeah, you are right about that. When I asked something at my one the girl flat out told me I know more about the process than she does and they just make sure all the form is filled out. But seeing as this is an issue of form filling, I'm sure that by the time we go they will have had some guidance as to how to address it, it really is a minor point though as your US passport will be with the application anyway, so please don't worry!  :)

Just agreed to the following when completing the booking form with our council for a NCS appointment! What am I letting us in for!  ;D

I understand that the Nationality Checking Service is unable to provide advice on legibility and applications cannot be accepted unless accompanied by all the relevant documents. In the event that my application cannot be submitted, I understand that there would be no refund of the Checking Service booking fee

The *only* reason that I'm doing this is because at the moment, they are still offering the joint passport service, which seems really convenient. If it wasn't for that, I'd just stick it in the post and forget about it!  :)

As with everything, I'm sure it depends on the person on the day.  But at my NCS appointment, the woman was extremely knowledgeable and really checked everything.

I just checked the form again and even though it says Feb 2018 they've updated that page where they forgot to add "from an english speaking country". I was away for 3 weeks and I have an NCS appointment this coming week but don't know whats going on. Are they phasing it out? I understand there have been changes but my council office hasn't sent me anything? Will they give ppl refunds? Sigh, so sick of this. Still have to get one of my referees to sign because they udpated the form.

So they have! It still says it was updated last on 12th Feb too so they didn't even own up to the correction and we don't now know when it was made!

I ended up just adding it in pen anyway!

There are changes, it varies from council to council but overall it seems that they have added the NDRS (national document return service) for those that use the online application and for the meantime there is still the NCS for paper applications.

How did your NCS appointment go? Any tips or anything we should be aware of? How many pics do we need? Do they have to be the same?

It went well thanks, they were very nice but they kept the original life in the UK test certificate which bummed me out because I don't think they are supposed to!
The pics have to be identical and I think it's one for form AN and two for the passport.
Don't make copies because they have to do that.
