My son will become an adult in the year 2035.  <mic drop>

2035-2018= 17 years. Doesn't sound sooo bad. Except then I'll have been around well over 3/4ths of a century. That DOES sound soooo bad! :o

So yesterday my daughter convinces me to take her and a friend to a static trapeze / silk class.  I didn't know it was going to be in a yoga studio or I would have refused

Notice the extreme vegan yoga going on in the background.

Nothing like a bunch of twenty year olds doing yoga in spandex to make you feel old.

Pretty cool hobby though :)

I've got to give her some credit, she investigates and works out all the logistics for these classes so the least I can do is pay for them and drive her. She did trapeze for her  Duke of Edinburgh award as well.

I've done some silk work in my dancing days.  SOOOOOO hard.  But I seriously lack in upper body strength.

What a fantastic hobby/passion she has.  Does she want to run away with the circus when she grows up?

Only if they have WiFi and Netflix.

She's not interested in other circus skills, no juggling or spinning plates. Just trapeze and rock climbing.
I seriously looked into booking our next holiday at Club Med where they have a proper full size rig and free instruction, but it was crazy expensive.  Not surprising for a super fancy all inclusive resort, but even more expensive than that.

That was my dream holiday as a kid, to go and do the trapeze, enjoy a tropical beach.  Unsurprisingly!!!, That never became a reality.  Not sure I would have the guts to try it as an adult.

I would LOVE to learn the trapeze.  I think I'd make a good go of it.  I'd want to trust the harness first though.  I'm sure I'd be nervous until I knew it was going to catch/hold me.

It's even worse with Pinterest stoking the unreasonable fantasies.  She's always sending me pictures of the Bahamas or Seychelles asking when I am going to take her there.
Bad news sweetie, we are going to Ireland in April, probably the only place more bleak and windswept than Scotland.

Is there anywhere local or would we have to trek into London?  Not against going to London, just hard on a school night.

I miss being able to attend late classes.  My Pilates studio has classes that start at 9pm which I LOOOOVE.

Will give it a google. Only know about aerial hoops that I used to do in Camberley but they didn't offer trapeze or silks. Wouldn't be shocked if there was somewhere around Reading though!
