Photo evidence (quantity?)
« on: February 22, 2018, 10:38:36 AM »
Hi guys,

I'm starting to gather photo evidence and was wondering how many photos are good, over what time frame? (i.e. a couple for each month of relationship, or any other prescriptive way it should be done)

No more than 2 photos, of only you and your spouse... no one else in the picture.

I would go with:
- 1 photo from the wedding
- 1 photo from earlier in the relationship

The ONLY reason you have to provide a photo is to prove you have met in person at least one time. Therefore, only 1 photo is needed. We like to suggest 2 photos, just to show the progression of the relationship.

Oh great! I was concerned as we've been guilty of not taking enough selfies! Thankyou

No problem :).

Just a tip:
It's much easier for us to help if you keep all the questions about your application and the documents in one thread, instead of starting a new topic for each question. If you just have one single topic for your application and just add your questions to the end of it as you think of them, then all the info and advice you have already been given is in one place and we won't have to search through all the different threads to remember what your situation is and what we've already told you.

Apologies, and thanks - will do

Not a problem :). I know people probably think that their question will be seen more easily if it's in the title of the topic, but I check all the unread posts every time I visit the site, so I don't miss any.

But having a separate topic for each question can end up clogging up the visa forum, which can make it harder to find and piece together all the questions from the same person.

I know I've ended up repeating myself or giving wrong advice to people before because I've forgotten who is in which immigration/employment/accommodation/relationship situation and what I've already told them before.

SELF-EMPLOYMENT CATEGORY:

The documents state 'Original payment booklet as proof of registration with HMRC', which I do not have any more (everything dealt with online nowadays), and they are no longer available from HMRC.

They are sending me a letter with proof of the next 2 items it mentions in the guidance (Proof of PAYE ref number, and Accounts Office ref number), so am wondering if this will suffice.

Thanks

No idea, I'm afraid, since I don't even know what the 'original payment booklet' is. You'd have to check with HMRC/your accountant/maybe even an immigration lawyer who specialises in self-employment applications to find out what can be used instead.

ACCOMMODATION EVIDENCE (HOUSE IN MUMS NAME):

Hi again, as above the property where we will be living is in mums name. I have the title deeds, and a letter from mum stating what needs to be stated.

One other requirement makes me wonder though; 'Sponsors last council tax statement'... As mums name will be on that, and she receives a rebate due to her age, I am assuming to include her last council tax statement is still relevant?

The bold text refers to a cheque book-like PAYE paying in book, which employer used to use to accompany a cheque in the post, so a bit old school! Ok, will do more digging. Thanks

What is the living situation?  Does your mom live there?  Do you currently live there?

Me and my mum live there currently. Her name is on the bills/council tax, and I pay her to cover services etc

There is no requirement to send a council tax statement for the accommodation requirement.

All you need is:
- evidence of homeownership (Land Registry document)
- permission from the homeowner to live there and that it won't be overcrowded (letter from your mum)

Thanks, the council tax statement was on a list of supporting documents I pasted from here I believe.. (but it could have been from somewhere else, I only use this forum now). But I have a couple of these lists to keep me on track so need to know I'm using the accurate version. Thanks again :-)
