Hi all, just joined this forum and I WISH I had found this before I applied for my UK spouse settlement visa. I'm a US-citizen moving to the London area...as soon as that visa comes in!

My British husband and I have been married for almost 10 years, living together in the US for 13 years, and we are now relocating our family to the UK for his job. My boys are dual UK-US citizens, and I am waiting with them in NY for my visa to come through. My husband has already been in the UK for his new job for about 2 months.

We did NOT include pictures of us with my visa application, and now I'm worried I didn't provide enough documentation for UKVI! I also only sent in a photocopy of our marriage certificate (the original was at the time out with my boys' British passport apps) and now I'm getting nervous. Since we've been married so long, have children together, and have owned properties together, I did not even consider sending in photos of us! Now I see that was pretty dumb.

I am now 48 days past my biometrics appt, and still have not heard anything about my application.

If UKVI needed more documents from me (like pics and original marriage cert) would they get in touch and ask for them?  Can I just send in new documentation with my GWF clearly marked and hope it makes its way to the rest of the application?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Hi Ali, Welcome!  :)

Yes, as Gandalf suggested, just start your own thread, it keeps things simpler. :)

FOOD!

This is a shot in the dark, but my wife is looking to source new mexico green chile's ((I understand it's spelt that way), in the UK, but the South Devon Chilli Farm mentioned in another very old thread stopped growing them, as I gave them a call straight away after seeing the old post.

Can anyone help, or know where these can be obtained in the UK?

I found the same thread!  :) Maybe that place could advise you on growing your own?

USA BRANDS IN THE UK

Can anyone tell me where to source Kitchen Basics (there's a Turkey stock in particular my wife is after) products in the UK? Amazon.uk is in a permanently out of stock situation, and my Googling has failed me on this occasion.

Thanks

You can try searching the US import stores but they will be expensive too. Or see if Target has it and will ship it to the UK. It's a US product, importing it one way or another is the only way to get it.

Honestly, I'd advise your wife to start looking for alternatives that are readily available here.   :)

For the US products I haven't been able to find replacements for, I typically have to import them. Its not cheap, they end up 2x as expensive after the fees, but since its an allergy type issue and I haven't found substitutes here it's worth it. Vitacost and iherb are the two sites I've used, keeping an eye on their sales to at least try and reduce the extra expenses. Not sure if it'd have that stock or something similar.

It's honestly a good idea to spend time walking through shops. You can usually find a suitable replacement for most things and adapt, but it can take looking and less than successful experiments. She can join here and post in the food forums as well, lots of solid advice and recipes :)

After a few years she’ll adapt and find decent alternatives here.  I used to bring loads of things back on visits and hardly bring anything now.
