Look at that giant corner calling out for a bread machine.

I'll take a picture tonight of all the crap that currently occupies the corner.

My corner of doom has the power outlets, so anything on the counter that is being steamed, etc., is there in the corner.  The counter is the only real workable bit for cutting things and it's where the cutting boards live.  The drawers have the silverware.  The cabinets above are the plates and glasses, the cabinet underneath does not tend to be an issue.

Old picture from not long after we moved in (so doesn't look homely and this was midway tiling the backsplash to jazz it up a bit).

Your kitchen looks so luxurious!  I mean... uh... yeah. I'm sure you have legitimate issues, but by my standards... *wistful*

I'll take a picture tonight of all the crap that currently occupies the corner.

I'll finish the washing up and tidy the space, then I'll take a picture of my entire kitchen.  ;)

I did not tidy for the photo.  This crap is how it is.

So since the other photo, we've done our cheap and cheerful makeover to live in the kitchen for a few years.  It's light years better than when we moved in!

New windows, blind, finished backsplash, and straightened the cabinet doors.

But the corner.  Ugh, everything ends up in this damn corner.

This thread is making me wonder if we should rearrange a few things....  could help!

NOTE:  the husband was tasked with buying an exhaust hood.  Two years and counting.....

This was what it looked like when we moved in.  Discovered the old (awful) backsplash was tiled over a previous backsplash...

And our neighbors redid their kitchen (same original cabinets) so we were able to add an upper cabinet to the left of the window.  :)

The new windows and blind make such a difference! And the new backsplash!  :)

Oh, I see how it is... the day I give up on my orchid (that I never asked for!) and repurpose the planter for my basil, you show a picture with a healthy orchid in the window.

I have to tidy up!  The walls and the space are so ugly that I need to do as much as I can to make it look decent.  Nobody would ever want to eat my food if they saw the space I prepare it in.  But it's clean... it just looks bad.  Because it's a utility room, not a kitchen.

I'll go sort it out now.  I've put it off long enough.

The new windows and blind make such a difference!  :)

Redoing the windows in the house was an expensive project - but made SUCH a difference.  Not just the aesthetics - which was massive, but the efficiency and function as well!

We still can't find a front door we like though and the house is SCREAMING for a new front door....

You too can have a beautiful healthy orchid.  Everyone thinks they are real in real life too.

Oh, I should've thought of that!  My MIL gave me mine, and I tried not to let her see my expression of horror when I received it... I knew it wasn't going to live long.  Today, I gave up on it.  Then I learned they're coming to visit next week.  *sigh*  I'm hoping she has forgotten she gave it to me.

Meanwhile, here is my utili-kitchen, plus additional storage in the lounge/dining room/thing (my husband would be mortified if he knew I was sharing this!):

JFKimberley, you have been crying this whole time when you have a washer and dryer!  That's the height of decadence

And they work!  Unlike the boiler taking up a significant amount of space.

Seriously? That is lovely.  I am not posting pictures of my utility room or my kitchen!  ;D
