Seriously? That is lovely.  I am not posting pictures of my utility room or my kitchen!  ;D

You are too kind!  If you'd said "functional", I would agree with you.  But "lovely" might be pushing it a bit.

Do you like my grey crate for standing on because the people who set up the space were apparently giants (though I met the seller, and she certainly was not a giant... the house baffles me)?

Name the Scottish Landmark painted by my girl :

I had to Google it, but Clachan Bridge!

And finally something my girl made on the laser cutter at school
She made the design!

That's really pretty! The bridge is my favourite bit, even if the detail on the Gherkin is pretty impressive.  Oh!  Big Ben's detail is good, too... I opened the pic in another tab so I could see it bigger.  (I'm so old!)  It's all very good!  The Shard, Gherkin, London Eye, Big Ben, and Tower Bridge, yes?

Oh, I should've thought of that!  My MIL gave me mine, and I tried not to let her see my expression of horror when I received it... I knew it wasn't going to live long.  Today, I gave up on it.  Then I learned they're coming to visit next week.  *sigh*  I'm hoping she has forgotten she gave it to me.

Meanwhile, here is my utili-kitchen, plus additional storage in the lounge/dining room/thing (my husband would be mortified if he knew I was sharing this!):

That's fabulous!  And I MUCH prefer your counters.  And you have a LOT of counter space for a small area!

You see that yellow thing under the counter, on top of the washer (the machine on the right)?  That's my single-burner camp stove.  When I want to cook something, I bring that up to take up part of the precious precious counter space.  Or if I'm using the slow-cooker, that comes down from the top of the microwave.  We also have a George Foreman grill on the dryer, which comes up when it's needed.  The microwave gets to stay where it is when we use it, which is nice; at least that lives and works in the same place.

I know it's not terrible (from a global ranking of personal wealth perspective), but it's also not terribly convenient (from a Western industrialized perspective), either.  I just want a normal kitchen with cupboards and full-size appliances, and an oven.

I'm still convinced that this is your actual kitchen:

Yep.  She took a photograph and then traced it onto the program that drives the laser cutter.  If you light it nicely from the bottom it looks pretty good.

Have you seen the picture of KFDANCER'S laundry room?

During construction, a man died and was buried in the walls

That is bigger than my lounge/dining room put together.  You could probably include the space that's slated to be my kitchen in there, too.
