We bought a car!
« on: April 07, 2018, 02:41:37 PM »
Ok... So my husband hasn't driven for 7 years so a car wasn't really on his radar as much as it was mine until 2 days ago. Being curious,  he rented a Europcar for a few hours to see how his driving skills are.

Today we are car owners!

He decided he would just finance a car instead of me saving up to pay cash. Up until today, our finances have been pretty much kept separate but I'll need to make the monthly payments.

I can't believe how ridiculously easy it was to finance a car. My husband just pulled out the BOS app, typed in the vehicle info, was approved for the loan and put in the dealers bank details and the money was instantly transferred. It took about 10 minutes to close the deal.  I was flabbergasted.  Lol

Anyway... introducing Agnes.

2016 Nissan Juke. 1.5 litre turbo
3325 miles Diesel

We can pick her up on Tuesday.

Just got a quote for insurance from Aviva. £800 A year for both of us. Just myself as the primary driver was over £1000 so I'll not complain. Husband was disqualified from driving almost 8 years ago and has only had his full UK license back for less than a year now even though he was only banned for 4 years. He didn't have a car and didn't think he needed to get a new license as he never planned on driving again.  (Lol) Since the ban happened over 5 years ago, it won't count against him. He's just being treated as a new driver.

Nice one, Tami!
I like the body style of the Juke.  And in that colour, *IT* (can't do the naming/gender-thing of cars!) will be easy to spot in a crowded car park!  ;)

And even better, Admiral insured us for half the amount of Aviva. Score!

LOVE the car. I want something like that for my next car. I use admiral as well, they are the cheapest for us. They knocked hubbies quote in half from his current provider. Have fun with your new freedom

Fantastic Tami, that car should serve you well.  Are you going to call it The Yellow Submarine ?

You know funny thing. I used to have a submarine tattoo and a fetish for submarine sailors. Some of my former boyfriends even still live by the submarine base here in Scotland.

I live about 5 miles along the coast from Faslane.  :)

I'm still in touch with two of them. And I've not seen either of them even though we live pretty close now. I think it's danger territory to make arrangements for lunch with former boyfriends that are now very single and have never stopped thinking about me.

Me on the other hand... those sailors were a dime a dozen. Lmfao

My high school sweetheart lives in Cambridge now.  He’s happily married with a baby.  I would like to meetup but not sure if it’s weird to suggest?

I don't think that is weird but these two have made it clear they were still interested in me. I can be trusted to behave myself but I don't want to give them any false hope. I was their American girl that got away.
