Hello From Southampton
« on: December 09, 2004, 11:57:29 PM »
Hello all I moved to Southampton in June was like a culture shock.  Friend gave me this site she had lived here but was moving back to America.  I dont really know anyone just my husbands family and friends.  And trying to find a job here is a night mare.  Just feel alone.

I have lived in England for 5 months.  Dont really know anyone, im from the state of Georgia im a southerngirl.  Have two small boys and a British hubby. But I think England is kool its just so different takes some getting use to.  Ummm thats about it :)

Hi and Welcome!

It is a big adjustment at times isn't it? Glad you found this site, I know it has helped me to just know I am not the only one out there.

Hi Blazensun, and Welcome :)

You are not alone here tho, I live just 20 minutes away in Bournemouth, so if you ever feel the need to connect with another American type person, I don't work either, and am always up for a visit :)

Tebs :)

Hiya and welcome! I was very much in your shoes this time last year - didn't know anyone but my husband and (sort of) his family, wasn't connecting with anyone at uni, having a tough time adjusting to the culture and my sudden loss of independence. And my point? In a year it's turned around 100% - so you have to trust that there is a light at the end of the tunnel and you are NOT alone.... Finding this site is a GREAT step - I'd be willing to bet that it'll help out tremendously very quickly.  :)

Hello there Blazensun,

It's Melanie here, and glad to see you finally made it.  You will find some really really nice and friendly people on this site.  If they have any gatherings, try and go, these people really know how to have a good time.

Well I hope everybody has a Happy New Year, and a safe one.

I know I will.

Welcome to UKY.

There are so many nice people here; people who have all made the big move and understand.

You will meet people and make friends.  And there are folks from UKY all over the country.

This is a very friendly place with people who genuinely like to talk and share experiences, etc.

Welcome!
