Women's t-shirt recommendations needed
« on: April 16, 2018, 04:17:41 PM »
In the States, I loved plain black, white,& grey t-shirts from Nordstrom (Halogen & Caslon brands). They were mostly cotton so very breathable.
Now that I'm in the U.K., I can't find anything similar.
Yes, I have checked H & M and Marks & Spencer. The quality & fabrics just won't do.
Recommendations?
Thanks!

No recommendation for specific brand, but if you were shopping at Nordstroms before, I'm not surprised you are not happy with the likes of H&M and M&S.   ;)

I'd check out some of the premium brand stores.  Selfridges, Harrods, or simply specific designers.  Have you looked to see if a store carries either of those brands in the UK?

I'm the kind of girl that buys some insanely expensive pieces and other freakishly cheap stuff.  My t-shirts come from Walmart and Primark.   ;D  Not that I get a chance to wear them in the UK very often.   ::)

Haha! I buy the cheapest men's fruit of the loom t-shirts from eBay! Small to wear out and XL to sleep in!  ;D

Jack, Nordstrom ship to the UK, if you like their stuff a lot, I'd just order from them. :)

Hard to beat Fruit of the Loom and Hanes!

I have recently discovered Walmart's Faded Glory shirts and LOOOOOVE them.  Nice fabrics and styles.  AND SO CHEAP!

I have had some Faded Glory tops over the years... they last ages, are inexpensive, and fit nicely.  I wish I made trips back to the US so I could do some shopping.  I don't really get much in the way of new clothes over here (I just haven't found my shop, yet, with regard to price, style, and quality... emphasis on price).  I'd love a trip to Walmart and a trip to Old Navy.  Yeah, I'm cheap.  :P

Sorry Jack.  Here you wanted nice, high quality clothing and it turns out we love the cheap stuff!   ;D

Hopefully the Nordstrom delivery to the UK will sort you out and we'll go back to talking about our old man t-shirts!

How about Boden? I buy a lot of t-shirts from them, they're decent. Or Gap? It's not Nordstrom's but cotton and fairly long-wearing. Or check out some brands at John Lewis?

I had a couple of Gap maternity shirts that were given to me and they were HARD to part with.  Sooooo soft!

You might also like Sea Salt. They are definitely more upmarket.

Or Fat Face or Joules or White Stuff.

The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.

Second on all of these, especially Seasalt. Their clothes are sturdy and largely organic.

They have some adorable weather proof jackets I would love to get.

Thanks, everyone! Now as soon as I get the bank account situation sorted, I will have plenty of brands to buy/try!
