Then I wondered if it was because my mom didn't make it well (too dry?), or something.  But I've had it as an adult, it's not any better than I remembered.

It's not creamy.  It has liked dried/coagulated chunks stuck to the noodles.  At least in my experience!

Yup.  That's what I got, too.  And the flavour didn't seem cheesy to me. It was like a sharp tangy salty thing that in no way resembled cheese.

I didn't mind Velveeta shells 'n cheese, but it was stupid expensive, and my mother wouldn't buy that as a compromise.  But I'd still much rather have the real thing.

It just smells off to me, like sweaty trainers. And grainy and not all cheesy, just more like chemicals. Thought Velveeta was even worse, to be honest.
My Mom makes amazing mac 'n' cheese though, so I was very spoilt.

Texture-wise, Velveeta wasn't grainy and dry, so I liked it better.  It does taste rather chemically, compared to real mac 'n cheese, though, definitely.  Either way, my mother never bought it.  It was something a friend introduced me to after I left home, and it was a satisfying snack.  Then I realized I could buy a bag of shells and a brick of Velveeta to make it at lower cost than the boxed kit.  Budget living!

I'm a mac and cheese snob. I love my husbands home made.

Target has pretty things and stuff I can actually use- like dish soap and cat food. This Christmas our school band played at the mall then had time on their own. I went to Target ALL BY MYSELF. Got a coffee and just wandered around looking at the stuff I can't look at when my kids and husband are with me!

Oh wow.  What was that like?  That must have been amazing!!!!!  We went "shopping" on Sunday.  It was the first time in YEARS I was looking to get clothes for me.  It was a NIGHTMARE.  More than once I murmured under my breath, "Next time, I am coming BY MYSELF"!

Not Target but is there anything remotely close to Trader Joes? I’m from California and TJs and Target are big on my miss list. I can’t imagine there is anything like Trader Joes but thought I’d throw it out there.

Aldi has a big fan following here.  But I doubt it's the same.

The appeal of Aldi to me is only that it's cheap and the quality is reasonable for store cupboard items and produce. I wouldn't buy their meat though!

Oh and there is one really close to my house!  ;)
