If anyone is near Hammersmith, don't forget to visit the fantastic Amnesty International Bookshop.  A great selection of political books.
Here's a humble brag of everything I just bought :

Maybe I'm not so smrt, I just bought John Grisham and Bill Bryan, nothing special there.  I am excited about the book about Bhopal

I'll have to send my husband there sometime! I'm restricted to ebooks these days but amazon has a pretty solid kindle selection!

Ooh, Amadeus, the film :)

F Murray Abraham (Salieri) wasn't born in my hometown but he was raised there and he often tells people that he will always consider it "home" which makes me very happy (as do his many films) but this one in particular because of a silly story.

I was traveling with my sister to Los Angeles to attend an album-signing autograph party of her favorite British pop band and attend two of the band's concerts and Mr. A was on the flight with us. He had been in town celebrating his Academy Award nomination for Amadeus with his family and was off to LA to attend the ceremony. He was gracious and pleasant with everyone on the plane and in baggage claim but after 30 minutes of looking at the same sad blue suitcase that was not his or ours, LAX got to witness his acting of a very pissed off customer and two Oscar-worthy attempts by us because they lost our luggage too.

He was sort of pleading with the lady at the counter that he only cared about a specific piece of luggage that held his wife's dress for the ceremony. My sister was far more dramatic. We were seeing her favorite pop band and there was NO WAY IN HELL her pop pin up boys were going to see her in the same clothes three days on the trot. At one point, Mr. A said to us in Spanish, "That's right, don't take their sh*t. Get your stuff and get it now! Goddamn it!"

At the end of it all, we missed our bus connection to Irvine arguing and being dramatic at LAX but Mr A paid for a taxi to take us to the record store so we wouldn't miss the autograph party with the band. He was a class person! We were thrilled that he won the Academy Award for Best Actor but we couldn't help but notice that his wife's dress was different than what he described to the baggage people at LAX. As for us, the band saw us in the same clothes for three days straight.

Anyways, enjoy the movie and all your books.

Great story Lorena.  I'm interested in Amadeus because tons of it was filmed in Prague and I have a deep love for that city.

Wait, did we get the name of the band?  I have to look back in your post

No, what band was it?  Why are you being so vague?

Exit through the gift shop I thought was very interesting. RE that book POP, I haven't watched it yet but there's a documentary on Coke vs Pepsi on Amazon I have saved in my watch list for Prime if you have prime and you're interested in that kind of thing...

I do love a good physical book but I have a few stacked up I haven't made time to read yet! I need to get back to reading in bed (but that time seems to have been replaced by listening to podcasts - I need to try to find a happy medium lol). Now I go into charity shops on failed attempts to find decent board games for my collection. No luck thus far..
