That’s too long for the letter, but every single document for the visa should be listed, as it is a contents letter accompanying the package

I’d just go with:

To the Entry Clearance Officer,

Please find enclosed my application and supporting documents for a settlement visa to join my spouse in the U.K.. I would like the 30-day vignette to start September 15, 2018, as per the intended travel date listed on the application form.

The following documents are included in this package:

List EVERY SINGLE document that is being sent, including application forms, sponsor’s documents, financial documents, accommodation documents and relationship documents.

Yours Faithfully,
Your Name

That's fine, I will get her to amend it accordingly. Couple more questions:

1. My tenancy agreement doesn't state how many rooms there are in the house that I am renting. Is this important? My landlord has written a non objection letter which does state how many rooms there are in the house.  I am down as the primary tenant in the renting agreement.

2. Pretty self explanatory, but does my wife need to send her current tier 2 BRP card back to UKVI?

Thank you

1. No, it’s not important

2. I don’t think she does need to send her BRP, since that visa is no longer valid (because she has left her job), but I’m not completely sure.

One additional question please regarding children (my husband has two adult children from a previous marriage). Do we need to provide all the information on them since they are self-supporting and staying in the US?

Here is what I see on the form:

You’ll need to give details of your children (and your partner’s children if you have one). You’ll be asked about all children, even if they’re not applying.

You’ll need to give details of:

their name
their nationality
their date of birth
their passport details
who the child normally lives with
any other people with parental responsibility for your child, for example your step children’s other parents
how you’re involved in their day to day life
arrangements you have to see the child - for example the courts have granted you access
the child’s extended family
any countries your child has visited or lived in.

Seems like a lot of info if they are not part of the process so would appreciate someone's feedback, please.

Hi ,

Just filling out appendix 2 on my wife’s behalf . Question 1.12 is as follows

Age at time of marriage . Simple enough , when I read the guideline notes , this is what it says

It says tell us in MM/YY format . Does that mean months and years ? So say 10 months and 25 years would be my age ? Quite specific on this one .

Thank you !

That is really weirdly-phrased guidance for that question... I've never noticed it before.

Normally MM/YY is used for dates, not ages (i.e. if you married in May 2018, it would be 05/18)... so I don't understand what they mean by age in MM/YY format.

I think would just answer as follows:
25 years, 10 months

Completely agree , quite an ambiguous question . Was it different to when you did it ? Maybe someone with a recent submission can shed some light !

Well, I'm British and not married, so I've never actually filled it out myself :P.

Hopefully someone else who has can confirm what they put though.

Oh dear ! Seems like I have been deceived all this time . I was under the impression you had gone through all this pain too . Should I be trusting you despite the expert badge

On another note ,

This is only asking me to state the amount I need to meet , not the amount I earn ?

Lol - I might not have gone through it myself, but I have been advising on fiance and spousal visas for 11.5 years, and have helped probably well over 1,000 people successfully apply for their visas :).

You don't need to fill out that box, because it doesn't apply to you. You have already ticked the box at the top to say you need to meet the £18,600 requirement.

That box is for people who are applying with more than 3 child dependants (i.e. more than 4 visas in total) and need to calculate the income needed themselves.

I don’t know your background but if you are not already then you should consider becoming a lawyer and you can start charging us soon !

Sorry it’s late night Can I cross it out / leave it / print off another page and do it again ?

Oh, no, I’m a scientist... being part of the forum is just a hobby :P. Plus, I already spent 6 years at university... don’t fancy going back for more now.

It’s up to you really.  I might print it again, just so everything’s neat and in order.

It's an unusual format but unambiguous, they want to know how old you were in years and months.
So if you were 25 years and 10 months old when you married, that's what you put.  :)

Maybe they will give you an honorary degree for your contribution in uniting families .

On that note , I have seem to hit a roadblock . So I am submitting my statements from November 21 - June 21. My latest pay check was on 25th of June . As the statement is always before , the 28 day rule never works out . I have spoken with my bank , they’re sending me April , May and June’s certified statement . These will be stamped and signed so will be fine .  When I enquirer about them printing off the transaction from 21-25th of June , they told me that unfortunately they can’t do that (for whatever reason ) . I can’t go into a branch as they’re a digital bank (Tesco bank ). What they have said is that they can write whatever is needed on company headed paper so they can write that transaction on 25th of June 2018 for xxxx amount is authentic . And also address it to the Entry clearance officer . I can then print the transactions myself from the online banking and send that with it . Will this be sufficient ? I am quite worried now .

Thank you

In addition to this,I have just tried downloading transactions but I can't . The only download format it comes up as is in excel form . The best I can do is either a screenshot of the screen or just print the page off my online banking. I don't know if this will be acceptable but there's no other way . Argh this is so frustrating.

That won’t be acceptable on its own, but if the bank will write a letter confirming the amount in the account on X date, then you should be okay with printing the page from online banking showing that date.
