You should have them state in the letter the lowest balance in the account on each of the days in question to be safe. And include your print out of the page from your online account.

That won’t be acceptable on its own, but if the bank will write a letter confirming the amount in the account on X date, then you should be okay with printing the page from online banking showing that date.

Right this has turned into a full blown crisis, now the manager came back to me and said that their legal team said they can't even send that so its useless. what are my options? We need to apply this month?

The bank manager said they can't write me a letter to verify my online banking printout. Unless it's PDF format with all the bank details, they can't verify it. This is impossible. What are my options? This is terrible.

I am thinking of this, so if my wife goes ahead applies and books her bio metrics say for end of July. If she submits her application , on 18th of July then it means my documents have to be within 28 days of 18th right. So I can wait for my statement to come out on the 21st of June , get that verified and submit it?

You might just have to print the online banking transactions, send them as they are with an explanation and hope for the best.

Alternatively, though it might be risky with timing, you could submit the online application by July 23rd (which is day 28 after June 25th) and book biometrics for a week or two later, then mail your July 21st bank statement to the US as soon as you get it... and hope the timing works out for getting the documents to Sheffield (or your spouse could mail all the documents to you in the U.K. after biometrics and you just add the extra statement and forward everything to Sheffield).

If they can't do a partial statement for just those few days, can they do a statement ending on or after the date you need and going back a month or more?

This what I am thinking, I wait for my July statement which will be due on 21st of July (Saturday). My July payslip will be on 25th. I can access my statements online ! So as soon as July's statement is released, I print them off. The online statements look exactly like the ones they send through. So I could get my wife to print all my statements online by giving her my details. There is no difference to what's online and what Tesco send through the post. Once her application is submitted on the the 21st. She can print off those statements. This will also mean it's 27 days from last pay slip so within the 28 days period. This all seems do able. Thoughts?

And as soon as you get this visa, open a new account with a bank with physical branches so you don't have this drama with your next visa application!  :)

But neither the pay slip or the bank statements would be authentic in this case as you would have printed everything from online. It would be extra obvious because paper is a different size in the US!

I have lost all faith it and I don't think they would but once the manager calls me back, I will ask. I think I have come up with a potential solution. As I have said earlier, the online bank statements are exactly what they send in the post so they don't need to be stamped or verified, however, I got them certified anyway. These statements are all available online and can be downloaded immediately so say if it comes out on 21st then I can download it that day, rather than waiting for the posted one for 3 days. This could be our savior here. As I was saying , so my next statement is due on 21st of July which will show my June pay slip. The next pay slip is due on 25th of July. So, if I give my wife my online banking details, she can log on first thing on 21st of July and make sure she can print all the statements. Or I download all of the 7 months statements and email her the PDF files. Then she submits her application on the 21st of July. The 28 day rule is from the date of application submission so this means that my statement will be within 7 days of the date and my payslip will be within 26 days. This works. Right?

So there is no such thing as US A4? In that case, I will be sending everything to my wife by Friday. This will only leave the one bank statement. If she submits her application on Saturday 21st of July. I can send her the last statement via UPS 3 days delivery on 23rd meaning she should get it by the 25th of July latest. Let's say she books her bio metrics for 27th, this means she will have everything in hand ! and there is also the 5 day on top from date of bio metrics to collect any documents. Does this make sense to you? Am I being overly optimistic? Also worst comes to worst, I have heard that the visa fees can be refunded if the bio metrics have not been attended so if for some reason, the statement doesn't reach her, she can cancel it.

You can’t use printed online statements - if you could, you could just print the transactions now and you wouldn’t be having all this trouble.

If the statements are printed from online banking, they MUST either be:
- stamped/signed by the bank on EVERY page
Or
- accompanied by a letter from the bank, on official stationery, confirming their authenticity.

For this to work, you’ll need to either:
- get the 21st July statement sent to you in the post and then either mail it to the US, or have your spouse mail the documents to you in the U.K., so you can add it and forward everything on to Sheffield.
Or
- somehow persuade the bank to send you a partial statement or a letter in the next few days/couple of weeks

So 2 months ago, I change my statements to paper. The ones I have received so far are the same PDF ones I can print. There is genuinely no difference ! I know that this is not the case for many banks, but with Tesco bank, there is genuinely no difference. So you will not know whether it has been printed online or come through the post. This might be hard to believe but I can send photos to compare online vs post.

I think forwarding the post to me and then mailing Sheffield will be more riskier. Getting the July statement and sending that to my wife would be easier. Considering, I will send everything else to her by Friday.

For the bio metrics, can she book them whenever she wants so say if she has submitted her application on the 21st, then can she book bio metrics for two weeks later or is there a realistic limit?

Thank you ! This is so stressful. Not what I needed. I was happy thinking I call the bank up this morning and do what's required, only for this bombshell to be dropped.

While you may get away with home printed statements (people have done in the past), UKVI will know that this is what you have done and it's up to them whether they let it slide or not. Remember, they are experts in detecting forged documents so spotting the difference (say in print or paper quality) in home printed versus original statements will be a piece of cake for them.

That is also the case for other banks as well, but you still need to send the official ones sent in the post. You don’t want to risk a visa refusal and losing over £2,000 just for a small issue like that.

Why would it be riskier? It’s no different than her mailing everything to Sheffield from the US. She’s just putting a different address on the shipping label.

It also means she won’t have to wait for the extra document to arrive after submitting the application. She can submit it, attend biometrics a couple of days later and then mail the documents to you. You can then add the extra statement and send the documents on to Sheffield.

She can book biometrics whenever is convenient for her... so 2 weeks later is fine. If she gets the documents earlier than that, she can just try a walk-in appointment before her actual booked appointment.
