Anybody near Durham? Need a recommendation
« on: May 13, 2018, 03:21:29 PM »
Daughter wants to go to an academic conference in July at Durham Uni. Needs cheap, but safe, accommodation nearby to either the Cathedral or the Uni's "Science site".

Any recommendations for places? She'd be taking the train down.

I don’t know where it’s at but I’ve stayed at premier inn there a few times and it was ok. And I felt like I could walk to a lot of places.

The university, and the science site looks to be about a 10 minute drive from the cathedral and from the city centre.

In past years we have stayed at university accommodation in various cities during the summer where the university rents out student accommodation during the summer recess. We have always been very impressed at the value.

I see that Durham university also do this, so maybe this is an option?

Thanks. We haven't been able to get their website to work, so we'll phone tomorrow.

Good luck, we’ve had great experiences with the university accommodation at York, LSE, Portsmouth and Exeter.
