All I can say is I brought mine over with me and it was toast in no time. Hubby (also an elec eng) brought me a transformer home from work... but over time (I do sew quite a bit so it was quick) the 50/60 hz I guess was the killer.
If I had it to do over again, I would not have brought mine.
