Oh, bummer!!!! The Mack is on fire!
« on: June 16, 2018, 09:46:53 AM »
We smelled wood smoke wafting in the bathroom vent late last night, but thought it must be someone with a fire pit having a very late party nearby. No such luck. The Glasgow School of Art downtown has been burning furiously over night. Apparently they had to run a line into the River Clyde to pump water. And it's spread to nearby buildings. So that's two really major fires in city center in the last several months.

So they had been renovating the Mack, and it was almost ready to be re-opened. Surely they'd put sprinklers in there? If so, why on earth did they not work? This is really sad.  :-\\\\

That really sucks.

From what I read, they'd installed sprinklers (or we're in the process of doing so) but they either weren't yet functioning or turned on.

At least no one was hurt.

I don't know. That seems overly suspicious to me. Is anyone calling foul play?

Not that I've heard so far.

The Daughter says her "local" friends are saying that the fire earlier this year (not at the Mack) was probably "an insurance job."

No idea why they think that.
