So I am in my 30's, worked in US for around 14 years as employee but started my 401k very late. Despite contributing as much as possible when I started, I am way behind. I beat myself over this bc my employer matched too, but no time machine to fix this so life must go on.
As self employed in the UK what should I be doing for retirement savings? I hope to go back home after UK citizenship, it all depends on my husband's family situation at that time.
Not sure if I could get like an IRA when I go back home. Can you put money in IRA from savings or does it have to be like income only like 401Ks?
I read you don't get the social security equivalent here unless you work for like 10 years, saw some other thing about 25 years for some other benefit.
