This Kane guy is pretty good. Why in the world isn't he on a top-tier team back home?

He's the Tottenham Spur vice-captain and has been playing for them since 2010... that's pretty top-tier.

I don't really follow football, but a quick Google search tells me Spurs have been ranked either 2nd or 3rd in the Premier League for the last 3 years.

I think they should just have shoot outs. It would save a great deal of time and money.

Moreover, I suggest a rule where the players have to keep their hands in their pockets at all times. It would end all of the grabbing and stuff.

Thirdly, why is there only one referee?

Haha, at some points last night it looked like Colombia was trying to play rugby!

Good word.  There is no other way to describe it from about the 90-minute mark to the last penalty.  Just excrutiating.

That head-butt to the chin!  That was deliberate and it looked painful.  My teeth hurt watching it.

It was a filthy match that's for sure!
I actually couldn't watch the last two of the penalty shots for each team. I went to find the cats and cuddled up with them for 5 minutes! Was so happy when I learned the result!

We watched every agonizing second of it.  Some of those Colombian players... *headshake* I really wanted to see Barrios ejected from the match (I'm sure everybody did).

I feel as though they have all observed 3 and 4 year olds on how to pretend the tiniest touch is the WORST INJURY EVER!!!

I couldn't stop laughing whenever someone was rolling around screaming in agony (not on any ACTUAL bumps).

Awesome :D!

As someone who remembers watching the England-Germany Euro '96 semi-final penalty-shootout, where Gareth Southgate infamously missed his 'sudden death' penalty, it's incredible to see the team he now manages playing so well and actually winning World Cup matches :).

On a slightly depressing note though, I just realised that at the time I was watching that Euro '96 match live (I was 13), today's England goal scorers, were just 3 years old (Maguire) and 11 weeks old (Alli)... oh, and two of the players on the current England World Cup team weren't even born yet :(!

He's doing a tremendous job!
