Wish me luck guys!

So I’ve been back in the U.K. for about 5 weeks now and have been actively looking for work for the past 4 weeks. I’ve had three proper interviews that all went pear shaped (I either get really nervous and freeze or I immediately don’t feel a connection with the panel and just want to crawl under a rock). I’ve got an interview this afternoon and, finally(!), I’m excited about it. I’ve done the prep, I know about the corporation and its values, and I have examples to back up my skills. This will be my first venture into a large private sector organisation (I’ve only ever worked in the public sector) so that’s what I’m most nervous about. Proving that it is possible to jump from public to private - I just want the chance to grow and experience something new!

Just needed to get this off my chest as I pace around the house reciting their values x

Just remember, it's not about YOU (as a person), but you as a commodity you are offering to the employer. And that you are interviewing THEM as much as they are looking at you.

Also remember that the people in front of you are just people, too!  Just relax and enjoy an engaging chat about a job and company that you're excited about.

I'm sure you will nail it. If you still run into trouble, I genuinely recommend some interview coaching at a job centre of some sort (I'm hoping members here might have suggestions for company names). When I was laid off a couple years back I was given coaching by a company and it was the best investment of my time ever. Learning approaches to answer common questions without trailing off into too much detail that they don't care about (from nervousness) was really helpful.

luck, luck, luck, luck! I'm polishing up my resume to make it a CV as we speak. I hate looking for jobs but I'm usually ace at interviews but...this is a whole new ballgame lol!

I’m finished! I left smiling and happy it went so well! Finally, an interview where they were down to earth and welcoming Thank you guys so much for the pep talk earlier. So so helpful, seriously! Crossing my fingers and toes!!! Will update on the outcome when I hear!
