Last night, I spotted a hedgehog out our back door.  Two came!

We are so excited.  We have food out for them tonight and plan to buy a hedgehog house!

JF, want a commission for a cool hedgehog house?  Not joking!

While I am sad that my parents don't live closer and I won't see them now for at least another year (and I enjoyed the last 2 weeks with them), my LMH is just having a quiet house again where I can go back to MY routines without worrying if my guests are happy.
My, how time flies....

* Married in the US and applied for first spousal visa August 2013
* Moved to the UK on said visa October 2013
* FLR(M) applied for  May 2016. Biometrics requested June 2016. Approval given July 2016.
* ILR applied for January 2019 (using priority processing). Approved February 2019.
* Citizenship applied for May  2019
* Citizenship approved on July 4th 2019
* Ceremony conducted on August 28th 2019

Annnd one more one for me today: Just booked in my citizenship ceremony! Doing a group ceremony because they want £175 for a private ceremony that has to happen on a weekday anyways so I don't see there being much value add due to work schedules regardless. Makes more sense to just do the group ceremony (been told there's actually more pomp and circumstance with a group ceremony anyways so we'll see I guess LOL). They only do 1 a month and they are full for this month's unfortunately but should hopefully still give me enough time to get UK passport before Japan (fingers crossed).

I totally get both sides of this!  It's fun having people around whom you enjoy spending time with, but at the same time, it disrupts your life.  I completely get that sigh of relief after the guests leave and dust settles.  It's squish on the sofa with a sipping beverage time.  :)

Wooo!  Almost officially official!  I only did individual so I could have more guests.  If that's not a thing you need, group is probably more fun, and it's certainly less expensive!  :)

If I could have it done privately on a weekend, I would definitely probably pay to go private for the guest count, but honestly it just sounds like more of a palava than I need for £175 to still be on a week day when people are working anyways!

Yes definitely this. I can even do 1 night without needing a sigh of relief...but when you multiply that by 14....lol and it's not even just the night time...I love my parents but I was pleased on the few days I did work half days if I'm honest.

My entire family is coming next summer- mom, dad, brother , sister in law and sister. I’ve already booked an air bnb within two miles of my house so they can stay there and I keep my quiet house lol I don’t have the space for all of them but I enjoy my own home and my own routines, so I totally get this.

Very smart move! I have my sister, brother in law, and their 2 kids coming in August. I can fit them all but I've got a feeling the week is going to get old QUICK lol

I found runts and various other fun American items at my COOP today. Side note my stomach now hurts from eating so many runts haha but they had legit American buttered microwave popcorn I never seen that here before.  Our microwave broke and we haven’t felt the need to replace it so I didn’t buy any, but man I missed buttered popcorn.

More of a giggle than a LMH.

But there is a guy at work (we will call him Bob) that about 2 months ago started calling me Kat.  I've corrected him a few times, but he's not the best listener.

Anyways, a new person started last week and Bob sent him to come speak with me.  So the company's owner brought him over to my area (he was looking for Kat in finance) and introduced him to us and then said, "see?  We have no Kat."  I was like, "Oh, that's me."  Bob sent you?  LOL.

Bob is only here another week or so as he's resigned.

I think it's safe to say that my love for cats is outdoing my work reputation.  ;D

This is hilarious!!

My husband and I are both off work (he's a teacher and I work part-time) and my parents just flew back to the US on Thursday. Today was beautifully warm & sunny and we bought some newspapers and sat outside on the new outdoor patio at our Wetherspoons. So my moment of happiness was getting to drink unlimited tea and do crossword puzzles in the sun with my favourite person in the whole world today. ;D
