It's totally worth all the work. It's such a weight off once it's out of the way!  :)

100% I want it done ASAP as it's holding back my focus from other things that I'll need to do for my career here and getting different smaller aspects of my life in order that add up in the end.
My, how time flies....

I've also got a pure crush on Julian Norton (one of the vets in the programme).  [smiley=smitten.gif]

When you log onto the village/surrounding community Facebook page and someone posts "Go slow, there are sheep wandering around"  (and the week before it was cows that got out).   [smiley=smitten.gif]

My girl got a 9 on her French GCSE!   She took it a year early.

I'd happily pay £200 for every GCSE over 7.  Not sure my wife likes for me to flat out bribe the kids

That's great Jimbo, is a 9 the A or A* or whatever?  I don't really know much about GSCEs as it's standard grades up here, but that sounds awesome.

9 is the highest grade, now, isn't it?  So, A*?  Very well done, lil'Jim!

You said she took it a year early... is she not meant to be doing her GCSEs yet?  Is this the only one she took?

Also... will you actually pay her?  Because I want to be adopted, and I want to go back and retake all my exams... my parents were not very supportive of my education.  They kind of took everything for granted that I would do what was expected of me.

Thank you everyone (except for Tami and her emotionally abusive cat) .  She took it a year early because she could , and only took French.  Next year she and everyone else will take all the rest of their GCSE's.   I think her grade was the highest you could get.

I was serious that I would pay her.  I heard on the Freakonomics podcast that simple payments for good grades is very motivating for kids.  I'm sure the Mrs. is completely against it.

Congratulations Young Lady Jimbocz!

If there is a cash bonus, I will fall all over myself for that because, let's face it, $CASH$ is indeed a motivating force.

I found out quite early on that my own kids work for cash so I created a program called, "Pass for Cash".

I have three kids and they have a scale for their academic level. Currently, I only have a high school student (Senior, finally!) and she has a "progress report" every three weeks and a "six week report".

Her "progress report" rewards $3.00 an "A"; $1.75 a "B"; $0.75 a "C".
Her "six week report" rewards $6.00 an "A"; $3.00 a "B"; $1.50 a "C".
She earns nothing on a "D" grade and if she fails any class, she loses it all!

If there's an Advanced Placement class, that specific class gets a 50% increase and if the kid "sweeps" all classes with an "A", kid earns a 50% bonus on all so that AP class "A" grade at "six weeks" could end up being as high as $13.50

Kids here have six classes a year.

Trust me, my kids hustle for those grades. I never have to tell them to do their work and they do come to me to ask for early morning rides for tutorials or study groups. It works for my kids anyways.

Oooh, I would've worked so much harder (at all) if I'd been in your pass for cash system!  I wanted good grades, and I was entirely capable of good grades, but I did absolutely nothing outside of attend class to deserve my grades (for enough of my classes, just showing up was enough...).

They way the GCSE's work now with grading is SO confusing!

Congrats to your daughter Jimbo :) She should be proud of herself, bribe or not! LOL I probably couldn't have been motivated enough to pass my french class - with cash prize incentive or otherwise.

That overwhelming moment of relief when a couple of security guys break themselves into your hotel room because your numpty husband has locked you both out on your 6th floor balcony.
