Dave: Do you want me to make you a cup of coffee?

Me: Yes, please!

- a few minutes later -

Me:

ETA Crumpets and maple syrup are literally the best. Mug... Er, pot of coffee also pictured for scale.

I'm glad you included the crumpets for scale, as I didn't realise it was a tub of coffee.  Heee hee.  I suspect you are just going to have one cup?  ;)

I am totally in the dog house for this already so I may as well keep telling anyone who will listen.

Yesterday I had a crazy day of (uber important) meetings and the baby needed to be off nursery for a fever, so my amazing husband took one for the team and stayed home.  He also said he'd take the 4 year old to school so I could leave and get a bit more prep time before my meeting.

So, he gets my daughter dressed.  Gets her tights on, her blouse, and her tie.  Walks her through the neighborhood to school.  Drops her off at breakfast club.  Kid eats breakfast and then makes her way to her class.  Her teacher asks her where her dress is!  He literally sent our kid to school in tights and a top.  BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!  I still keep laughing out loud whenever I think of it.  The best part is - she didn't say, "Daddy, I need a dress on."  Luckily the school had a spare dress so she didn't have to be like that all day.

He requested that I not post it on Facebook so I'm telling everyone one by one instead.  He has officially told me he's never telling me anything again.  Doesn't matter.  THIS IS GOLD!!!!!!!!   [smiley=laugh4.gif] [smiley=laugh4.gif] [smiley=laugh4.gif] [smiley=laugh4.gif] [smiley=laugh4.gif] [smiley=laugh4.gif] [smiley=laugh4.gif] [smiley=laugh4.gif] [smiley=laugh4.gif] [smiley=laugh4.gif] [smiley=laugh4.gif] [smiley=laugh4.gif] [smiley=laugh4.gif] [smiley=laugh4.gif] [smiley=laugh4.gif]

The teacher is also concerned about how many times our kid goes to the bathroom.  So we asked her how much water she drank yesterday.  She filled her water bottle THREE times and drank it all.  This bottle holds at least 600ml.  So yeah, if the kid drank 2 litres of water - of course she's peeing all the time.  LOL.  Plus she gets bored and it's something to do.   ;D

OMG! That's hilarious. Men ... At least he did get her to school without forgetting either child?

For the water ... Is she constantly thirsty or just bored? In kids, that can be a sign of type 1 diabetes and I don't know how regularly they check blood sugars over here. If it's just boredom, see if a fidget toy would be allowed? Might keep her focused in class longer!

My LMH today ... I treated myself to an electric blanket and a board game that I played back in the US and really enjoyed. So the carcassonne big box and my winter cosiness will be here soon!

Yes, I suspect they'll recommend us getting her tested for diabetes at some point just to be sure.

BUT - she comes from a family of "heavy drinkers".  I go through at least 4 litres of water a day.  And my other family members are very similar.  I think she's just taken my habit of being very well hydrated.  Personally, I'm pleased that she drinks so much.  My husband is TERRIBLE at drinking and must live in a constant state of dehydration.

I'm laughing, but I've done the same with my 3 year old daughter. Dressing my 5 year old son is a piece of cake - underwear, socks, shirt, pants, shoes - aside from jumpers and shorts there's not much variation, and I've worn all that stuff, so I know if something is missing or not. With my daughter there are skirts, dresses, tops that have skirts attached to them but don't look like dresses, leggings, tights (I just had to ask my wife which ones were leggings and which ones were tights), and I often don't know what the hell I'm doing when it's time to get her dressed.

Happily, my daughter knows what goes with what, and has VERY STRONG OPINIONS when it comes to what she wants to wear, so I'm happy to let her run the show, which is how we wound up at ballet class dressed in a skeleton Halloween top. In a world full of ballerinas, dare to be the skeleton. :)

KF!  I was reading your story to my husband, and he said, "What about her skirt?" before I could get to that part!   :D

But then he defended your husband by saying that tights can look like leggings, so maybe everybody just thought that was her outfit.

My husband is like yours.  I always have a glass/bottle of something to hand, but he can go ages without a sip.  I need to know where my hydration is at all times (even if it is Coke).

Me too!  I am never further than arms length away from something to drink, at any time!  ;D

BWAHAHAHA! Poor Mr KFD! Worse my husband has done (so far) is only using fabric conditioner to wash his clothes in after I left from a visit at Christmas last year. I got here in May and wanted to do laundry and asked him 'babe where do you keep your laundry detergent'. He told me 'it's under the sink'. I look...hmm...'Baabbeee you need to pick up more because you've run out'...he comes home from work after insisting he had a full bottle! He pulls out the giant blue bottle of Tesco fabric conditioner and said 'see i told you. here it is!'. I felt so bad mentioning it to him that although he clothes were fluffy soft...they weren't getting very clean. He felt so dumb but I told him it was ok...when you only have detergent (they hang everything outside) at his parent's, I can see how it was confusing.

He swore he would never do shopping or laundry without me again... :D

I do get that girl's clothes are a bit of a mystery to boys.  We used to have frequent funny incidents when our daughter was a baby.

Me, "Why is her dress on backwards?"
Him:  "It's not"
Me:  "Ummm, those are pockets all over the back of the dress."
Him:  "But the buttons are in the front."
Me, "Fair play, men's shirts don't button in the back.... however, women's clothes frequently button in the back."
Him, "That makes no sense."
Me, "True.  But it buttons in the back."

;D

He also used to snap the baby vests over the leggings.  Very 1980's.  ;)

And my girl is also the kid in dance wearing something that is not pink.  I teach Babyballet and I cannot tell you how happy it makes me when I have a kid NOT in pink!

I blame Susan G. Komen for the 'pink everything' thing.  I completely rebelled and refused anything pink from the day I saw a line of power tools brought out for women... in pink!  I was, like, WTF?!  No!  Just stop!  Not to mention the pink everything tends to cost more, even if the extra cost isn't going to "the Cure", because people were exploiting that bandwagon.  So, you be proud of your not-pink-wearing daughter.  I applaud you.

My ears just perked up around excessive peeing.  I volunteer for Diabetes charities and there are many sad stories.  You definitely know your child best and I know definitely that some kids definitely get bored and drink more at school for something to do, etc and we all have various degrees of thirst. However, please, please, please if you notice that your daughter starts to lose weight, wet the bed, is tired, cranky, lethargic,  has yeast infections/sores that don't heal, please get her to a GP, pronto.  If she has a sore tummy, starts breathing funny, is lethargic and out of it, please go straight to A&E.  Many children are diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes after going into Diabetic Ketoacidosis , which is a life threatening emergency condition.
There is also another rare condition called Diabetes Insipidus , (unrelated to Diabetes Mellitus, eg. Type 1 and Type 2) which is problems with the hormone vasopressin which helps regulate the amount of water in the body.  This is also a serious condition.

Now, to the funny matters!! Ha, I can totally see why he would have just thought her tights were the bottoms, since so many leggings look like tights and vice versa.  I'm guessing he missed her pinafore thingy? Why would she have a shirt on otherwise? Confused. LOL.   I'm a girl and I find girls clothing confusing, hahahah.  It's even funnier that your daughter thought it was great to go to school without 'proper' bottoms on!!  ;D
I've never gotten food on my underpants!

I am a little bit proud of myself. Taught myself the stockinette stitch with YouTube!

First try and it's pretty even.

Now to try and tackle casting on with something other than the cast on I was taught. This has not gone well so far... I just can't figure them out.

The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.
