Totally agree on hobby lobby Vs hobby craft. The first one I went in wasn't even on par with a Michaels. I'm so happy that I found a local yarn store and that there are some great websites to buy yarn!
I just needed a few little findings and not a whole yarn order, but there was a nice light yarn 3 for 2 so my husband told me to get it. Need to make a baby blanket for a friend and it'll be perfect for a lacey one. :) A place to go browse and find something new and creative is nice to have!

It just takes finding the craft/hobby you actually want to do. I'm really loving knitting. I think I'll pick out the yarn for my sweater. Nan said there's a sale on one of the yarn sites!

I think I like the idea of learning those types of hobbies but when it comes down to it, my brain just goes in 9000 different directions and I never sit down to start learning. Started to learn website design tonight but even that I didn't get too far with it. I will try again tomorrow lol

The closest one to me is about 40 minutes away, which isn't terribly helpful. 😅 It was fun to wander around it wasn't quite what I was expecting.

It's awesome when you find what you're looking for! I'd love to see what you end up doing with the baby blanket. I've only done 5 different basic stitche patterns so seeing what others do is always fun.

I can be like that too... I have a ukelele that we bought me and I learned a few chords, no strumming patterns and I haven't touched it in ages. I think I need more structure. But I haven't done anything with my DSLR and I have an online course. I think I'm out off by not only having to learn my camera but also having to learn an editing software.

Have you joined Ravelry yet? It's AMAZING!  :D

That sounds a bit strange! You don't want to take any chances and be left owing late penalty fees. I'd try to get that in writing to be on the safe side.

I have! It's awesome and it's how I found the directions for the beginner sweater from Tin Can Knits.

hahah only when I'm PROPERLY motivated to do it because it's something I want to do bad enough...or on my board game meetup nights because I really enjoy the games. Website design is something I really want to do but I don't think my brain has the capacity to learn it all so I default to finding distractions haha

I know. It’s from tax credits, when we took his daughter in full time her school ( we were working with her school grievance counsellor ) and they were pushing my OH to do child tax credits.  We did, and then the next financial year came around we called them and said we make well over the threshold we don’t want to claim anymore. We were told if OH ever claimed again it would be taken out of that but it’s surfaced again.

Oh, I'm sorry.   I just assumed you were talking about income tax. I know nothing at all about child tax credits.

The Daughter goes there often, to look at patterns and finished products. Just be aware that (so I'm told) there can be a bit of cliquishness on Ravelry and the people who post there are not aways kind to "newbies." Apparently there are some people who hang out there who are "Knitters" - definition: people who are looking for some kind of group to belong to to feel special - rather than just people who knit. As long as you can ignore those types, the site can be really cool. (Or so I'm told.)   ;)

Oh, I joined a REALLY nice knitting Facebook group to ask questions of and they're really cool. I haven't needed any help yet, but got lots of compliments on my yarn choice. 😁
