KFdancer is a social butterfly, she'll get you sorted!  ;D

We have a pretty active group in wokingham (England).  I started it a few years ago and we do lots.  So if you don’t find there’s a group in your area, start one!

What part of Wales are you headed to?

Hello Amber and welcome.  You have certainly come to the right place if you have any questions about moving to the UK.  The knowledge and expertise that people have on this forum is staggering.  You are in safe hands.

Thank you very much. :)

I do have a small concern now...I haven't received a confirmation email from Sheffield. I mailed everything to my solicitor on June 11th and he received it June 13th and he mailed it to Sheffield the next day. Do they always send out a confirmation email?

If the solicitor put his details on the application, he will have received the email, have you checked?

Well I didn't know there would be a confirmation email from Sheffield til I joined this forum. And unfortunately my solicitor has left the company right after he submitted my application. They transferred my case to a new solicitor and I emailed her today. I won't be hearing back from her at a minimum til Monday because it was after hours when I sent the email.

Cardiff area

Hi and welcome!  Yes, I am in Wales, too!  I'm about halfway between Llanelli and Carmarthen.  It's a bit of a drive from here to Cardiff, but almost completely M4, so it's easy driving.

There are a LOT of Americans in the Cardiff area.   There's a Facebook group for them.  I haven't gone to any of their meetups, yet, because I only just got myself mobile last month (after 5 years in the UK!), and the FB group aren't UKYankee forum people.... I'd be all over Cardiff already if this group was there!  ;)

But YOU are coming, so maybe I'll stop being so clique-ish once you arrive... after all, you're part of UK Yankee, now!  :)
9/1/2013 - "fiancée" (marriage) visa issued

5/6/2013 - FLR(M)#1 in person -- approved!
8/1/2016 - FLR(M)#2 by post -- approved!
8/5/2018 - ILR in person -- approved!
22/11/2018 - Citizenship (online, with NDRS+JCAP) -- approved!
14/12/2018 - I became a British citizen.  :)

I can't wait to get back. I honestly found this site by accident. Glad I did. I never thought about chat rooms/forums.

If the solicitor put his details on the application, he will have received the email, have you checked?

So I have checked my application details and yes my solicitor put his contact details in the how to contact for updates. That is a bit frustrating even more now because he is no longer with the company and my new solicitor that they transferred my case over to when he left isn't responding to my emails. I'm sure they have received my application but it would be nice to have that piece of mind that it didn't get lost in the post. Hopefully since I have the UPS tracking number for the return of my documents and passport/hopefully visa :D will get posted back with in the next 2 weeks.
I just need to remain positive and be patient.  :-\\\\

We have been apart for the last month an a half and it is driving us both bonkers...LOL. Luckily we are both keeping busy and so far it seems as though the last month and half has gone pretty quick but at the same time it seems each day is going slower...Very confusing I know...LOL

No, don't worry, I completely get what you mean! I think, of all the places you could go to talk about this, people on here understand!
