Am just putting finishing touch on my spousal visa application. thanks to all that is posted here I believe I am very much on track, so I only have a couple of questions:
1. My biometrics appointment paperworks states that I have 2 weeks to get my paperwork to Sheffield from the date that was stamped at the appointment. I read somewhere else that I have 10 working days. On this site, I have seen multiple comments stating that I only have 5 days. Can anyone clarify this requirement? I will need almost all those 10 days to get my package overnight air to Sheffield. those multiple post stating the 5 day limit concern me.
2. I have seen comments about my wife needing to write a sponsor letter..and that I also need to write a letter. I have no idea what this means...again...can anyone explain this to me. I am US citizen and my wife is the UK citizen. Her income more than covers the financial requirement...as does mine...but hers in earned in the UK and mine comes from the US Government in the form of a military pension.
3. Finally, in the unlikely event that my application would be denied. Other than the NHS surcharge....is any of the more than $2900 application fee returned?
Again...thanks to all who have given their time and efforts to create and maintain this valuable resource. I don't think that I could submit a successful visa application without it.
1- Ksand24 answered this in the other thread that you posted it in. It is 5 days
2-The sponsor must include a letter, it's optional for the applicant and only usually done if there are any unusual circumstances which require further explanation.
The sponsors letter should include the following.
How they qualify to sponsor you (British citizen)
Details of how you are meeting the requirements (whether her employment income or your military pension)
Details of your accommodation
A brief history of your relationship and the reason that you are choosing to settle in the UK
3-You would only be refunded the NHS surcharge.
