daughter age 16 lost passport in Indonesia on school trip
« on: July 22, 2018, 08:49:55 AM »
Hello friends = love the new look for the website!  :)

here's a real puzzle for you = hopefully someone here will be able to give some advice.

our daughter, age 15 (16 on July 30) has lost her UK passport (or it was stolen) in Indonesia on a school science trip with Operation Wallacea.

One of 4 adult supervisors was meant to be keeping track of everyone of 24 kids passports, but somehow my daughters was misplaced. We have been going back and forth with staggered communication all week to sort this out.

Today (Sunday July 22), she has been shuttled to Jakarta with an adult teacher/supervisor to get an Emergency Temporary Passport on Monday so that they may fly directly home. cutting her trip short by a day.

here's where it gets really tricky: We're scheduled to leave for the USA on July 26th for a holiday to Disney World for her 16th Birthday.
1.) do we go to London to try and get her American Passport renewed on Wednesday (July 25)?  how long would that take? we've got a day - literally
2.) do we postpone the trip and get her British and American passports renewed / replaced? How much would it cost to postpone the trip?
3.) do we leave our daughter behind to have a holiday without her, leaving her with an uncle to celebrate her 16th birthday? (not a favorite option)

Once again, thanks in advance for any and all suggestions.
love and hugs
pvt
Cheers!

A little confused - she lost just her UK passport? Or both passports?
Married December 1992 (my 'old flame' whom I first met in the mid-70s)
1st move to UK - 1993 (Letter of Consent granted at British Embassy in Washington DC)
ILR - 1994 (1 year later - no fee way back then!)
Back to US in 2000
Returned to UK July 2011 (Spousal Visa/KOL endorsement)
ILR - September 2011
Application for naturalization submitted July 2014
Approval received 15-10-14; ceremony scheduled for 10 November!
Passport arrived 25 November 2014. Finally done!

I’m also confused.

She needs her USA passport for entry into the USA regardless...

I'm as confused as the others on the situation but do you have travel insurance? I'd postpone the trip because she would need both passports.
