Regretting not finding this site sooner. Virtually every timing expectation from solicitor has been wrong and we are nearly screwed. Yesterday was day 30 and our London wedding is in 3.5 weeks. Our solicitor assured us during the fiancee visa app process, we had nothing to worry about and we'd have the visa with a month or more to spare. Solicitor assured us that we have met every requirement for the visa, which based on my research I believe we have. I paid for priority service and have confirmed that with The HO. The HO has my PP so I'm stuck and cannot travel. Our wedding registration etc...has been approved by the HO, venues are paid for, friends have their air tix and hotels.
We thought we were doing everything right and were willing to do and spend what ever it took to make this happen. One of you commented a while back that you loose control with a solicitor involved. How true that is.
I know the better way to go would be to do the wedding in the states, but family considerations made that impossible.
We are trying to figure out a plan B. Can I get my PP sent back to me without stopping the visa approval process?
Can I get married without the fiancee visa?
Is there someone we can reach out to for intercession on this?
I read somewhere that I had to be in the UK for six or seven days prior to the wedding. Is that true?
As it stands now by my calculation if we got a decision email on Monday, we wouldn't know what that was until friday (we paid a courier service fee). Our window is closing rapidly. I would appreciate any words of wisdom/advice. Thank you very much
