So, with me being out of the know here let me check I have everything understood.

1) She applied for a settlement (spouse) visa seeking help through the forum
2) Since she hadn't heard anything she tried to come over on a 'at border' visitors visa in the meantime?
3) Refused entry and told visa was refused

Is this correct?
Feb 2014 - Married
29/04/2014 - Spouse Application Approved
02/05/2014 - Visa Received
09/01/2017 - FLR(M) Granted
22/07/2019 - ILR Granted
05/05/2022 - Citizenship

Really?  I wasn't. If you read the border officers posts, they say that they turn more US citizens away fron their Ports than any other citizens. Arriving with her dogs, taken exams to work in the UK,  getting another US passport(?) to enter the UK, husband in the UK,  any  strong ties to the US?

If everybody was honest then this wouldn't be a problem,  but as we see from posts on here and  other forums, too many are dishonest and will lie to enter the UK.

I am completely in agreement with you. I'm not shocked in the slightest.
My, how time flies....

* Married in the US and applied for first spousal visa August 2013
* Moved to the UK on said visa October 2013
* FLR(M) applied for  May 2016. Biometrics requested June 2016. Approval given July 2016.
* ILR applied for January 2019 (using priority processing). Approved February 2019.
* Citizenship applied for May  2019
* Citizenship approved on July 4th 2019
* Ceremony conducted on August 28th 2019

Yup, I'm surprised.  Pleasantly surprised (not against the applicant or her husband) but pleased UKVI has followed their own rules.

If I was forced to Skype my wedding/blessing I would demand my husband to be with me in France. We can live stream to the wedding party in the UK while being together.

I’m confused about the settlement refusal decision in May. I think she said something about the UPS tracking not working. Will have to look back at older posts.

Updated: Nothing relevant on UPS tracking. Just that it wasn’t working.

The tone of the article didn’t sit well with me. Agree with one of the comments about too strong a sense of entitlement. But then most of her posts here in UKY had the same tone. So not surprised.

I don't even think I saw the original posts from her now that I think about it (if it's in the visas page, I don't tend to go there much), so I didn't even hear her tone in her original posting but I'm not surprised to hear this is the case.

I agree that the tone of the article didn't inspire sympathy but when she posted on here I didn't feel a sense of entitlement at all.

I think she sounded naïve and unrealistic, and latterly desperate but I didn't get the impression that she felt she was above the rules. I hope she comes back here so we can help her sort out this whole sorry mess.

People need to do the proper research for such an important legal document, you can't assume that just because you're married you'll be accepted.

I totally agree with this and I think that's why it was even more shocking (as she is a lawyer and seems to have passed the exam to practise in the UK as well). I wouldn't expect her to know about immigration specifically by any means, but I would expect that she would take a lawyer's approach to filling out and submitting this doc...

Didn't see the first post but this would make sense. I think a lot of people romanticise the whole process and think it is a lot more simplistic than it is in actuality so perhaps that was the case.

Same!  We can absolutely get them their visa.  And hopefully they can have an even BETTER party once they get their approval.  :)

ETA: someone posted a different article about her in the comments, which led me to her Facebook and her statement on this... again, sorry if this sounds unsympathetic, but they had a fundamental misunderstanding of what the requirements were for the UK sponsor. They did not meet the requirement and she calls this "immaterial" to the application.   ???

Mind elaborating on this?
Just being curious

.....Bit surprising if that quote wasn't taken out of context and they truly believe not meeting the requirements set out was truly immaterial...

I don't want to link to the post (even though it's public) since I feel a bit weird about it, but here's the quote I'm referring to:

I thought initially they were claiming they never received a rejection letter....now they are claiming they *DID* receive one last week and just wasn't happy with the quality of it or the time it took to get to them (when they didn't pay for priority)...? Have I understood that correctly?

I do get what she means by it meant immaterial now though, given the context. I thought she was saying what they didn’t meet was immaterial and shouldn’t have caused a rejection. Makes sense now so thanks for sharing.

And OMG the amount of people that don't understand that in MOST first world countries you can't just get married and have the other person join you for free with no extra effort....I knew people had this assumption that you marry a brit you should automatically become one, but this is a much higher number than intended...

It does look like they don't qualify whatsoever until the husband gets a job offer in the UK.

Am I right?

And breathe.  Breathe in through your nose for four counts.  And out through your mouth for four.

And never ever ever read a linked article on immigration again :D
