Discouraged
« on: August 02, 2018, 01:47:14 PM »
Do you ever feel discouraged and feel that you haven't done enough?
I know I am only on 34 BD  but I am starting to feel anxious and a bit discourage.
I have been trying to remain positive and we have done everything the solicitor has told us plus some but that feeling of what if is starting to creep in....I am so ready to get back to Wales and be with the man that I love and begin our lives together...I wish they would hurry up and say granted.... :-\\\\

While I'm one of the fortunate ones that never had to experience waiting, what you are feeling is completely normal.   :)

Things to help pass the time:
drink margaritas!
look up the public transport in the area you are moving to and start to learn the routes and timetables
eat queso!
Start taking practice theory tests for your UK drivers license
drink margaritas!
Look at what you'll need to do to get your National Insurance number once you move over
eat queso!
Translate your resume into a CV format
drink margaritas!
Look at your flip flops and mourn the loss of their use (this summer being an exception)
eat queso!
Look at the NHS website for reviews on doctors surgeries and decide which one you want to register at
drink margaritas!
Refill any current medications for a few months in case there is a delay getting into a GP.  And see if said medications are available in the UK.
eat queso!
Wander through Target/Walmart/any grocery store
drink margaritas!

I'm sure I can come up with more....

I feel exactly the same.  No matter how many times you read it/or people tell you - hitting 30 days priority and not receiving anything does leave your stomach with a sinking feeling and your anxiety hits the roof.

I find that just completely distracting myself and being confident that at least within 60 days I will hopefully hear something helps a lot (although praying its earlier than that).

I think the frustration also stems from the fact it can take so long to put the application together, actually submitting it seems like the final stage, when really its just the beginning.  I also get frustrated because it seems like the system is so inefficient,  centres such as Dubai etc that kept their own processing staff are approving applications in a week, and feel like Sheffield has just lumped all of our applications in a pile until they have cleared a whole load of student visas.

But ultimately, its all going to be so worth it and we just need to keep going :)  Never let the system grind you down !!!

They know this is their busy season, they need to employ more people...They are toying with peoples emotions and heart strings. If you offer a service you should do what you can to give that service in the time that you offer it.

I worry if people aren't worried about their application!  :)

I have been worried since Nathan and I started this process. Do we have enough proof..did we do enough to prove that we are who we say we are (relationship wise), will they think that we haven't been in a relationship long enough, finances....Everything that involves this application has crossed my mind.  The solicitor and us agree we had plenty of proof.
I keep getting people asking me, got an answer yet and so that just makes the feeling worse. I don't want to be mean but now its getting to the point I want to scream and tell them, dam* it, no...I WILL LET YOU KNOW WHEN I GET IT!!!  But I won't and I will remain calm and polite.

I think a perfectly fair and reasonable response to that question is, "Trust me, you will know when I get it!  The whole world will hear the news!"  Because when my approval came through, I started crying (happily!) in the middle of Petsmart.  No lie.

I have told people trust me, when I find out, You'll know but that doesn't seem to be working.  GRR...

Why were you in a Petsmart?  ;D

Back in the olden days when I applied (November 2012), decision made emails told you the decision.  Six weeks later, in early January, I knew it was getting close to time for my decision, so I was checking my email on my phone about 30 times a day (as we all do).  I just happened to be out shopping, and in this instance buying crickets for my now-SIL's geckos when I got the news.  The poor staff member scooping up the bag of crickets for me thought I was having a seizure.  I was trying not to make a scene, as my eyes welled up with tears and I started shaking and bouncing up and down.  I couldn't even see straight to verify that I'd read it correctly after the first reading!

Buying your SIL's gecko some crickets.  I've heard it all now!

I just couldn't figure out why YOU were in a Petsmart.  I know you love our animal pics but I know you don't have any.  ;D
