If you have any paranoid friends or family (like me) who refuse to use Messenger on their phones, I can recommend Line.  It's free, and it has adorable 'stickers'! My family use it... I'm not sure how that happened, but it's what we defaulted to.

Can't believe I've been home a week now!! I rang about my NI number yesterday and I have am appointment Sept 18th. Anyone else had to go in for an appointment? I assume this is a normal thing?

You will literally sit there while someone else fills in a very basic form.   ::)

Oh, and bring your husbands NI number with you.

Hello everyone! @jfkimberly has moved our Blizzard Party 2018 discussion in the "Meetings & Events" Tab so we can arrange that officially. The date was originally 7 October, but that is no longer good.

She's put the dates that are unavailable, and we can discuss it in its own thread. Hope to see all of you commenting!

Feeling a tad anxious....

My flight is due to leave Tuesday, 4 September...and now there is a disturbance in the Gulf of Mexico heading for Louisiana "within the next 5 days"

I am hoping I'm gone before it gets remotely close. Not to mention, the idea of a hurricane hitting home within days of my departure doesn't help my nerves either.

I need a hug :(

Hey there,

I am assuming you’re flying on BA from MSY? My partner works for BA and just checked their internal notifications and there doesn’t seem to be a worry about anything there yet. Keep an eye on it and if things are not improving call BA straightaway and get them to rebook you through somewhere else. Also check the website for any advisories. I lived in Fort Lauderdale for a while and know the idea of a hurricane is nerve wracking but they have a habit of changing course at a moments notice. So try to take it easy and think about more exciting things like getting here and having a pint at your local.

I am flying from LFT-IAH (United) and then IAH-MAN (Singapore). It helps to know that things aren't looking too bad yet...

I am probably just over-worrying. But I also don't like the idea of a hurricane hitting my home right after I've left.

We had a number of board members in/around Houston last year, thankfully everyone was OK. But it's hard to leave and needing to trust that your family will do what they need and remain safe. It's a natural worry, but we all know storms change paths and intensity all the time. You will get to England and have a nice trip to France!

Thanks Margo! I have family in Houston and they had to evacuate during Harvey, but thankfully their house was spared. My hometown is relatively high above sea level, but there are so many big trees in my neighborhood and it's always a worry about the trees falling on powerlines and especially homes and cars!! I've never had to worry about them...I've always been here with them! Hopefully it weakens into a tropical storm or tropical depression....!
