Yes, the sooner the better! Don't loose your pass certificate, you can't get a replacement.  :)

Once you've read the book, look online and do as many practice tests as it takes until you are passing easily every time.
There is no official online practice test site but you'll soon figure out which of the unofficial ones are better than others.

While there's not an official practice test site, TSO, who put out the official study guide, also have iOS and Android apps for purchase.  I used the Android app exclusively (and skimmed part of the book that was shared online somewhere).  I would say the Android app was excellent preparation for everything but the old history.  If you could read through the old stuff on your own, and then use the app until you're passing every mock exam easily, you'll be ready.

Our library system allows access to the GoCitizen online study resource with a library card so it might be worth checking if your local one has something similar.  I find the practice tests in the book easy as they tend to ask a lot about history but have more difficultly with the GoCitizen practice tests because they branch a bit from the historical questions.

Is there a way to find out how many marks you've passed or failed by?

I just took the test on 14 March 2020. When I completed it, they told me right away whether or not I passed, but they did not tell me what I specifically got right or wrong.

They used to be able to tell you your score if you attended one of the old, in-person ILR appointments. But you had to remember to ask them because they didn't volunteer the information.

Did you not get an email? The test place in Manchester you wait 5-15mins to receive an email with your result on.

It just says pass or fail. I was hoping to find out if it was possible to get more details.

Ah, looks like things have changed since then. You now get an email where you log in to your account and it just states pass or fail.

No marks or anything, which is kind of a bummer.

Yes, it's all changed. But at the time of the test you didn't get more information than if you passed or failed either. You would only know your score if 1- You attended an in-person ILR appointment and 2-You remembered to ask them.

I actually think they should let you know exactly which questions you got wrong. That way a fail could be more of a productive learning experience.

A few people that came out of the test centre I asked if they had passed which they said we would know by email in 15mins or so.

So I guess that's that then, no detailed report of the test.
