You guys are a bunch of newbies.

I wrote a big long post about it. It should all be in the archives.

Spoiler : I didn't bomb the hospital but somebody else did.

haha in fairness, this has more to do with my sh*tty ability to keep up with the posts on this site every so often and less to do with me being a newbie as this is from 2016 and I had already been on the site for a bit, I just went radio silent for while and never caught back up with the older threads! LOL Going to have to read through now though as I have far too many questions...
My, how time flies....

I joined in 2012!  But I was one of those people who got their visa, then went away.  I only really got active here last spring, when I was checking in to see if I was on track for ILR savings (I wasn't!).  That time, I decided to stick around.  Then Jimbo started Pass-the-Parcel, and I was all, "Oh, that sounds like fun."  And now I'm so addicted to you people.

Yeah, people have asked me several times if I'll "automatically" be a UK citizen once I move.

Like, no immigration doesn't work that way

So many Brits ask me why I have to apply for visas since I'm married to a Brit...
The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.

Man, you guys are uptight.  It used to be possible to just move a place and start living there.  Probably still can in many dodgy corners of the globe.

Yes, and we have 'old timers' on here when you could seriously just show up at the airport and get your marriage visa for the UK on the spot.  Obviously, those times are long gone.
As for other countries, yes, totally, how do you think so many people are able to make a living being 'professional travellers' - e.g. living off their blogs with advertising?

Yeah I too joined back in 2012 and was on it while applying and first moving over but then I struggled to keep up because of work and life so I sort of dipped in and out for a bit (obviously 2012 is relatively new compared to lots of people on here haha)

In fairness, I always assumed with many other countries when people were professional travellers in the more recent years, it was more because they came in as visitors and left before the visiting time was up.

They might be visitors for some countries, but are often (illegally) working by blogging....  It's a huge wormhole.

Oh yeah, would most likely be totally illegal to be doing the blogging as it is working, but agree it's a massive wormhole

Jimbo and the Stasi,  his big hit, is funny, it is true.

But I like the deep cut, Jimbo goes to Bojangles, where he somehow ends up driving the field trip school bus on a chicken and biscuit run. Part Smokey and the Bandit, with lashings of Bad News Bears.
