National Insurance Number - UK Visa

I have just entered the UK on a spousal visa. To work- do I need to apply for a UK national insurance number? Do I also need to still file my taxes in the US?

Yes and yes!
You can start working without one but will need it sooner rather than later.
And fbar too if you meet the threshold.

If you are a US person and meet the applicable thresholds you will always be required to file US tax and informational returns.
