I've seen Kraft Mac n Cheese in Sainsbury's! I don't eat it often but every now and then I get a taste for it!

£15 for a bottle of vanilla extract?????
Vanilla beans are crazy expensive right now.  £15 is really the going price for real vanilla extract.

Well, I guess I better get ready to be called posh!! LOL! Because I think I'm an M&S girl! If they only knew how much I spend at Whole Foods...  [smiley=laugh4.gif]

But seriously, I've noticed how the average working class person seems to speak harshly towards people with money. There seems to be a hard divide.

I assumed KFD was referring to people who judge because the shop you use isn't posh enough:)

There is a definite class system alive and well in the UK.

At some point, you’ll be asked where you do your food shopping.  The person asking will have their judgey pants on!

When I lived in Wokingham, my son’s babysitter lived near the town centre so I would always do my food shopping at Waitrose and M&S. I remember that I went with my husband and some lady actually asked my husband, not me, if he was visiting Wokingham because a “Northerner” wouldn’t be caught in Wokingham, never mind a Waitrose unless he was a bit lost. My husband just said, “Wow! I’ve been called out for being from the north and the assumption that I’m probably too poor to be in the town and in the store!” 🤦🏻‍♀️

Great success with my hash browns this morning!  They were perfect using the recipe that Tami posted.  I served them with poached eggs and slices of fried boczek.  Frying the boczek was a real revelation, as up until now, I've just been slicing bits off and eating them cold.  It's really nice cold, but fried...WOW!.. it's like the best bacon you can imagine!  :D

Lmfao... no wonder! Yes, ya gotta cook it!!

And now you'll have lots of glorious bacon grease to save for later use. Render it on a lower heat because it's extra poppy at a higher heat.

BACON! Real American crispy bacon, not the flabby abomination they call bacon over here. I miss it so much, and can't find anything here that is close. If anyone knows somewhere in London I can buy American style bacon please tell me!
( I hate a full English. I mean BEANS?)

Well, you don't HAVE TO  cook it...at least not the one I buy (Sokolow boczek pieczony), as it's already cooked, and it is very nice as a 'cold cut', but frying it just transforms it into LUSH!!

It's called streaky bacon and they have it at Sainsbury's and Tesco. Maybe not the local ot express stores though. I get the smoked ones. Add a little oil to the pan then the bacon and it's tasty. It doesn't render out right without a bit extra oil. I think it has to do with the curing process.
The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.

M&S is so not posh. This older lady I know always brags about shopping at M&S. She is NOT posh and if anything... she's reaching. 🙄

Yeah, but for 30ml? I can get a giant bottle of pure vanilla extract in the states for under $20.

Pancetta or get smoked baczek from the Polish shop.

And regardless of Lyonoria's insistence, streaky bacon isn't close to being the same. If you have to add oil to it, it isn't the same. And yes, I've tried both wet and dry cured, locally sourced from a local farmer, English and Dutch and none of it compares.

I'm a bacon connoisseur. I eat almost a pound of bacon a day and I have been for about 7 years now. I know bacon!
