Even the gluten free beef burgers are full of fillers like potato and rice starch. Why? Just friggen why?

Probably to mask the taste of grass fed beef, which to me, tastes nasty.

That's so weird. I guess that's why my husband raved the first time I made a burger for him. He had never really actually eaten REAL 100% beef burger!

I don't mind grass fed beef. I try not to eat anything fed corn or processed food full of corn byproducts if I can avoid them. But I know what you mean about the taste difference in the beef. There is definitely a difference.

Some say the British "banger" - a colloquialism for the common sausage link - is comprised of 90% rusk filler. This, along with rusk's water absorption qualities, accounts for the popping noise produced when resulting steam releases through the casing, which led to the onomatopoeiac moniker.

In other words it puts the 'bang" in the banger!

Had to look up rusk... I was wondering why they are called bangers though. Très intéressant!

I thought it was because it looked like a dong and therefore it could bang her.

The presence of fillers in everything makes me sad here, even specialty butchers use them. Just give me meat & seasoning in burgers and sausage. I'm getting better at making my own but the seasoning still isn't perfect.

Even if you only add salt and pepper it’ll taste better than anything you’ll get at a pub. And at least you know and can control what’s in it when you cook at home.  :)

Just give me meat ...

I expected that kind of filth from NcTami, and JFKimberley who is easily led, but I'm shocked to read this from Margo

Look at the grease that renders off my glorious baczek! Suck it you nasty British back bacon.

Then I fried my avocados in the bacon grease.

And I ate it all by myself! 400g of bacon and 2 avocados.

And there I was, proud of my 2-egg omelette.  *sigh*

Heavens!

My grandmother had a ceramic pot, shaped like a cat, where she would pour the drippings. She would then spoon it into things to give it flavour.
