Yes, Canola. I was sitting at work trying to think of the American name.

And omg, half the time I can no longer explain anything to anyone without sounding like an idiot while I struggle with the names of things.

Haha. I have that problem sometimes too. Gotta love it.
The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.

OMG... no.  Just no.
My OH would probably eat that, though... he likes it when bones are cut, and 'open' at one end so he can sook the marrow out!  [smiley=puke.gif]

Not right from the bone. Lol Scoop it out first and mix it in my burger, then yes.

I had NO idea that rapeseed oil and canola oil were the same.  Learn something new everyday!

So are you just dicing the bacon before cooking and then sautéing it together with the green beans in a frying pan?

Pretty much.

And oh, let me tell you about green bean, bacon and potato soup. Yummo.

Mmmm... That sounds nice as well.

I'll definitely have to try the bacon and green beans though. I think my husband would love that dish. And I'll probably be cooking a lot more at home once I'm living in England. So I know I'll need to try some new recipes to help keep it interesting.

Hoping you don't have a dodgy cooker. Mine is an Easy Bake Oven. With now only 3 working hobs.

I don't have an exhaust fan so it's incredibly hard to cook in my flat.

Oh, that's a bummer... especially if you enjoy cooking. Our cooker is pretty good. It's gas (which I prefer over electric) and has a double oven. It's actually better than the one I have here in the states. If you come through Cumbria, call in and I'll make ya some bacon and green beans!  ;)
