I saw an advert on a bus today for a place in Glasgow called 'Stack & Still :  The Pancake Pioneers'.  I googled it and got just a plain single page website that said 'coming summer 2018', but nothing more about it.

It's the 'still' part that worries me.  Goodness knows I like a drink, but I wouldn't necessarily want a wee goldie with my stack of pancakes in the morning.

I'll be curious to see what this place is all about.

Would you like a whisky with your pancakes?  ;D

Found this  recruitment ad. It appears that is what they are going for!!!  :o

MrsMagpie -

I grew up in Bradenton, FL so, maybe it's a southern thing. ;) Lived in Florida and SE GA for 25 years before moving out here to Seattle.

Oh, nice! I always wanted to go to Nick Bolletieri's tennis academy in Bradenton. Ha ha! Yeah, I definitely think corn casserole is a southern thing. Southern dishes are always decadent, rich, and delicious!

My stepbrother lives in Seattle but it's a city I have yet to visit. Have always wanted to though.  :)

You will.  Hopefully you don’t come across the few that “want to be the only gay person in the village”. They exist but are rare.

Oh dear. Really? Because that's so silly. Why wouldn't we all unite in our unique circumstances? People can be such fickle creatures.  :-\\\\

But if that's the way anyone wants to be, I'll gladly leave them be because they wouldn't be my type of human anyway!  [smiley=laugh4.gif]

Oh I'm thinking this is definitely going to be one of those places that puts beef gravy on your stack then!! It IS in Scotland. LOL!

But wait... if they're making like a sort of whisky bourbon maple syrup type concoction to go on the pancakes then count me in!

I found a non buttermilk pancake recipe on Pinterest so the husband and I made a batch this morning. First pancake tasted like cookies but the rest...were really good! I didn't miss the buttermilk at all (buttermilk here is NOT the same). And the golden syrup I had bought (I made toffee cheesecake last week) was perfect.

I had 4. I don't feel bad about it.  ;)

Nick Bolleteries academy

Yup, know right where that is. As a matter of fact, my first job was working at a Subway Sandwich store when I was 15. One day my coworker and I served a couple guys and when they left he said “omg do you know who that was?!?” I said no and he said “The was Nick Bolletari (sp?) and Andre Agassi!”    I still had no clue who they were until later. It was RIGHT before Andre Agassi blew up and became massively popular.

Seattle was amazing. I’ve had the luck to travel to about 40 of the 50 States and while many are beautiful, Seattle was the first city I visited that I said “I could live there.” So I took a year to figure out how I was going to move from Savannah, GA (actually just south of it) to Seattle and then did it.

And now, after having visited Edinburgh twice, it’s only the 2nd City i’ve said “I could live there.” So, we’re going to try and make it happen. We are using transferring internally to our offices in London as our stepping stone to get over there and then our end goal is to live nearby Edinburgh.

Ha ha! Pancake binges are sometimes necessary. Is there no buttermilk in the UK???

Ok I'll be honest, the whole golden syrup on my pancake thing is strange to me... It doesn't taste bad but it's just not right. I remember the very first time I visited my now husband in the UK, he made me pancakes and put golden syrup on. I didn't even know that was a thing and was expecting maple syrup when I took my first bite. The golden syrup was just a bit boring for me.

If I had to live in a big city in the UK, I'd choose Edinburgh too! I absolutely love it. Hope you all do get your wish to live there.

I got to play tennis with NIck Bolletieri a few years back. My tennis coach befriended him and invited him to come out to our club in Calabasas for a weekend workshop. It was such a cool experience. And he actually compared my serve to Serena Williams' serve. It was the best compliment I have ever received in my life! He became my biggest fan that day. He even made me give him a kiss on the cheek! LOL! My girls have never let me live it down. LOL!!

They do but it’s not the same. It seems too watery to me. Not southern  ;)

Hmmm... that will be a dilemma for me for making pancakes then. Gonna have to improvise somehow.

Bring back powdered buttermilk next time you're in the US.

I'm actually still here now and that's a great idea!!! I've never used it. I hope it's easy to find. Thanks!

I make buttermilk pancakes at lease once a month with the buttermilk you can buy here and have never had a problem.

It's no wonder Goldend Syrup is not good for pancakes, the bees are eating dead lions.  JUst look at the picture on the label or google it.  It's twisted and I choose not to participate.

I don't buy golden syrup. I'm not really sure what it is used for anyway. I'll just buy real maple syrup if I need it.
