Final concert ever?  :o
Yep.

It's bringing in over 45,000 people to our fine city this weekend.  Yikes.

I love a tattie scone....  Perfect for dipping into a soft poached egg.

I hate (and there are few foods I hate) what you get in northern England though with a fry up, which is boak worthy -  fried bread. I think that is absolutely horrid. Why would I want to eat regular ole bread deep fried in what should be really good dripping, but you never seem to get that, just yucky dripping or even oil. Eww.

I could probably open my window and hear them.

But I have no idea who they are. Never heard of them until they announced their final concert here and it sold out in minutes.

Scottish Rock.  :)  I saw them once when I was a student! I'm sure there will be a lot of tears!   :\\\'(

Lots of pages of posts already and I haven't read through them all so sorry if somebody has already said this but - aside from just making your own breakfasts - the pancakes at Bill's (chain) is decent IMO.  Other "American" places (like BBQ joints) may do pancakes for breakfast/brunch as well. You can get waffles with maple syrup (which I can vouch tasted good where I had them) from Brewdog for brunch (here's the brunch menu - https://www.brewdog.com/files/1486747821Doghousebrunchburgerseasy2piece.pdf). There are loads of Bill's and Brewdog locations across the UK :) Hope that helps even a smidge.

Ok, I haven't seen fried bread yet. I've never seen my husband have it nor has he ever spoken of it. Maybe because it's not so great??

Thanks for this! I looked up the nearest Brewdog location and it's in Newcastle which is an hour away. And Bill's is nowhere near us sadly. As much as I adore Cumbria, I definitely feel it's lacking when it comes to great food options... which is surprising having a fairly good sized city in Carlisle. But I'm also quite spoiled having lived in Los Angeles where there's every type of food easily and readily available.

I lived in Buffalo and thanks to the immigrant community had tons of food options even though it was a pretty small city. Over here it's not nearly as well received it seems. :(

Oh crumbs.. :( Sorry! Try seeing if there are any American restaurants nearby enough to you and just look at their breakfast/brunch menu...if no American ones, just start looking at what's around you and what they'll offer as you may wind up surprised. If nothing else, it'll give you something to do while you wait to come over! :D

Far as I can tell , Fried Bread is a Yorkshire thing, not a Scottish thing

I've never seen fried bread either except in Chinese restaurants.

I'm just stirring the pot to get a rise out of you guys :p

But really though, I had never even dreamed there was a thing like fried pizza before in my life until I went to Scotland hahah (I tried it and I didn't completely hate it)

Hope you're not going to miss buttermilk biscuits with sausage gravy.  Lol

And be glad you're not moving to Scotland because they put beef gravy, chili con carne and pulled pork on buttermilk pancakes here.

Us Americans are way beyond the Scottish and their love of fried foods. Have you even been to a local, county or state fair?

Scotland has deep fried Mars bars and pizza.
