...well...once again it is 12:10am and I have been repeatedly checking for dates - some came up - not even clear for which month - managed to get as far as the times before it crashed and then the dates were gone. Vanished. So...I am giving up on this route - for whatever reason, it isn't working and I cannot stay up this late and get up several times during the night and wake up at 5:45 anymore.

So...my only other option as I see it, is to wait until I arrive back from the US (going from UK on 20 November, returning 4 December); my current Tier 2 visa ends 14 December, so if I send my application and passports etc. before 14 December will that be okay so long as I stay in the UK until I get approved?

Many thanks...best of luck to others and congratulations to those of you who have somehow managed to see dates available and successfully gone through the process!

Yes, as long as you apply before the current visa expires, you will be protected under section C and your current permissions will be extended.

You are applying using SET(LR) correct?

It's in the guidance notes.  :)

Quote
13. Your status while your application is being considered
If you apply before the end of your permitted stay in the UK, your existing immigration status, including any permission to work, will continue until your application is decided.

I understand you not wanting to go on with the nocturnal searches but I would encourage you to keep trying in the mornings when you get up (and through he day), as other people have had success then.
I would still try on a different device too. I'm pulling for you!  :)

I have also read that some people have been able to make an appointment on their phone, so having more than one browser open at the same time. Nerve wracking I know, but don’t give up yet. Try daytimes too. It seems the slots can become available at any time.

This. My husband was able to get an appointment for me (for a date LESS than 45 days ahead) when he randomly checked the site around 2 in the afternoon out of complete boredom.

You were VERY lucky I think: I have checked so many times I cannot even begin to estimate - over the past 2.5 weeks. The very few times that anything has shown up (either VERY late at night or VERY early in the morning), the site has either crashed or hung. Doesn't seem to matter what device or whether it is Chrome or FireFox = same result...would gladly pay someone if they have a solution that can help me along on this...

Thanks so much! Miraculously, having stayed up yet again past midnight with no joy last night, I looked halfheartedly this morning and lo and behold I got a decent date on at a decent time at the centre closest to me which has not shown ANY dates for the past 3 weeks! SIGH...

So relieved for you! When I was trying back in March, I had trouble, too, but eventually appointments just started appearing sporadically for me (after weeks of absolutely nothing).  So when my window of eligibility opened, I was able to book the time, date, and place of my choice, and I felt such a sense of relief.  I'm so glad you get to have that feeling, too!  Yay!
9/1/2013 - "fiancée" (marriage) visa issued
4/6/2013 - married (certificate issued same-day)
5/6/2013 - FLR(M)#1 in person -- approved!
8/1/2016 - FLR(M)#2 by post -- approved!
8/5/2018 - ILR in person -- approved!
22/11/2018 - Citizenship (online, with NDRS+JCAP) -- approved!
14/12/2018 - I became a British citizen.  :)
