Passport stamped with the date of the day after my arrival
« on: August 22, 2018, 11:34:43 PM »
For example say I arrived in the UK on the 19th of August for a visit but my passport was stamped with the 20th of August. That must have been some kind of error right?

I'm concerned this might cause an issue in the future when we eventually apply for a spouse visa. Like the date in my passport being different than the date I've said I arrived. Anyone ever heard of this happening?

Thank you.

Has this actually happened to you, or is it a hypothetical question?

It won't be an issue, though I'd be surprised if they were using a stamp with the wrong date on it. If it is the case that this has happened though, you could just make a note on the application form to say that you actually arrived on the 19th but for some reason it was stamped the 20th.

Just to check though: it's not the case that you left the US on the 19th, but actually arrived on the 20th? Most US to UK flights are overnight, so you often end up actually arriving a day after you left.

Sorry for the confusing wording but yes this did happen to me.

Yeah it was an overnight flight but it was still stamped incorrectly with the date after the day that I actually arrived in the UK.

I've been to the UK multiple times and my passport has always been stamped correctly. This is just stressing me out that it may potentially affect my future spousal visa.

Hopefully in the computer system there is a clear record of the day I actually arrived. I also have a receipt/boarding pass for my flight. Should I try to contact the relevant airport department or something and tell them about this issue while I'm here?

I would just explain in a brief sentence in your spouse visa application, it won't be a problem. But when you enter on your spouse visa, be very sure the date is correct because that's the point that all your subsequent applications revolve around for the next 5 years.
