Was vastly underwhelming. Or is it just me?
Hospitals should stockpile 6 weeks of meds, but if individuals do they'll come after you.
VAT-free shopping on low value items disappears.
Credit cards will be, well, foreign credit cards in the EU, with the usual fees.
....
The only thing I saw that wasn't completely obvious was the bit about the poor pensioners in the EU who may not be able to "access their banks" or manage their retirement portfolios. I assume that means pull cash out of ATMs, as I can't see how they would not be able to log into their accounts from abroad. (?)

And, so, where is the anticipated advice to the public? Or have I missed it?

Just to note - these are going to come out in dribs and drabs through September. I suspect they are saving the biggest/worst for last with the EU citizens rights and/or anything to do with the border.

But agree - no one even mentioned these in the office and we are more reason than most to pay attention to what the government is saying. Then again, everyone is either on holiday, about to go on holiday, or its bank holiday weekend therefore who cares!  ::)

Yeah, well, I guess I was listening to all the hype.... "government announcement due out Thursday for the public" etc.  I kind of thought it would be, well, of a bit more substance than that. Kind of makes me inclined to not listen to future announcements.  8)

The chancellor says the economy is going down the drain.

I just hope that more people will ignore the fatalism of the argument that we are beyond repair. We are not beyond repair. We are never beyond repair. - AOC

Hospitals should stockpile 6 weeks of meds,

But the NHS won't have to stock up on cancer dugs because they are made in the UK.

Cancer patients across Europe could lose out on vital drugs if no Brexit deal is reached, pharmaceutical giant warns

Well, some kinds are made in the UK. Which is good. But heaven help people who need the varieties that are not.  :-\\\\

Most of my meds are not manufactured in the UK, and many with my conditions and a bit further down the med list have been dealing with shortages for the last year. I'm afraid of the instant price increases for an already stretched thin NHS.

Saw a small blurb in the news that a large number of Welsh fisherman, who export like 90% (?) of their live catch to the EU, will be out of business in a month if there are significant delays at the borders/import inspections.  I hope that doesn't turn out to be true.  :(

And as with every such announcement, the wording always includes "could", "might", "possibly", "may" and other speculative terminology....words that have been used by both sides of the argument.

This is uncharted territory - no one knows, but personally, I have great doubts that the UK will go into a recession.

And perhaps the Welsh fishermen will simply sell the catch here; seems the logical (never mind green) way to go, particularly since we *may* starve post-Brexit.

Isn't that the interesting bit to all of this?  Nobody in this country wants to eat those funny snails and most of that other stuff.

Just like nobody wants to pick strawberries.  The Tory's plan is to make sure that we'll all be poor enough that we'll be willing to pick strawberries, and for a low enough wage that the price won't go up.

There's also the question for many industries - are the processing, packaging and distribution networks already set up in the UK? Or are some of these products shipped elsewhere for cheaper processing in the current relationship with the EU? The UK can't have its cake and eat it too with Brexit, it's going to hurt pretty much every sector. The real unknown is how much?

The Swedish Embassy is hosting a night at the Swedish Church (the one building every Swede in town knows and probably has enough space) for a THREE HOUR discussion on Brexit and the impact on Swedes in the UK.  Someone from DexEU is going to show up and explain settled status and the application process etc and a Citizens Rights Q&A with some jobsworth from the Home Office.

I suspect the UK folks will stick to the current party line that "hey everything's cool, you guys are all welcome!" but the Q&A could be interesting since Swedes don't have a filter. Its in three weeks - I'm tempted to go and see how this goes down.  Note: Neither the Danes or the Norwegians seem to be offering something similar so this isn't just a roadshow the UK is putting on. Nothing on the US Embassy site but that is hardly surprising.

Also - the application process for residence for partners of Swedes is now taking up to 16 months!  :o F-U Migrationsverket!

Sorry Nan, just saw this - its in Marylebone. We couldn't get tickets as it was sold out!

Have it on good authority that more advisory notices will be dropping sometime next week/likely Monday.... but do not know if one of those will include anything to do with EU citizens (my guess: unlikely)
