Has anyone met "Savings Requirement" from selling your house?
« on: August 28, 2018, 12:56:56 PM »
We're hoping to meet the 62,500K "savings requirement" through selling our house (applying for Settled Spouse Visa -- I'm American, DH is British, want to move back to UK.)

If you have done it this way, how easy was it? Was it as stressful as I imagine? Did you worry you somehow wouldn't quite meet the requirement and then would be "homeless"? What physical proof do they expect you to show them that you have earned this amount through the sale of your house? (I'm assuming the total earnings only count *after* realtor fees, etc.?)

Lots of members have.  The guidance states the paperwork you need to provide to show the proceeds were from a home you owned longer than 6 months.

And yes, you’ll need to show a bank statement that has the full £62,500.

Thanks, this will be our first time selling a house anyway so everything about this is going to be new territory for us. (We've lived in this house for years, so thankfully the 6 month thing isn't an issue.)
