I've seen the Amy's frozen gluten free/dairy free mac'n'cheese at Holland & Barrett in the freezer

(Oh sorry, I see you're ordering, well I hope it's the same!!!)
I've never gotten food on my underpants!

Do those condensed cream-of soups taste like the American ones, with all the expected salt, or are they reformulated for the UK/Europe?  I need to look for them to see... I want to make a cheaty "recipe" again one day, just for nostalgia/comfort eating.

Oh, speaking of comfort eating, I miss Spaghettios.  Proper ones from America where the pasta has some 'bite' to it, and the flavor is sharp and tangy, and not all sweet and sickly.  Do not feed me UK tinned pasta slop.  It is an abomination.

The cream soups tasted the same to me. I used them in my mom's Wild Rice Hotdish recipe and it tasted just like home.

Then again, I've gotten used to a little less salt. I like more salt than most Brits but I find American regular potato chips a bit much now. Haha.

And I'm with you on the Spaghetti-os! I've asked my mom to bring me some on her next visit. Hahaha.
The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.

I'm dead serious when I say that the Boots where I live has Rimmel, The Boots brand, Maybelline and Max Factor. And that's it.

I've been to a big fancy Boots and bought Benefit stuff cause they have the travel sizes 3 for £25, but I can't get there on the bus so it's not somewhere I go often.

*Sigh* I miss driving. I got to drive last month when we visited the US and I MISS IT SO MUCH. I can't deal with the traffic here or the roundabouts or the narrow streets or much of anything really. My anxiety is awful enough with my husband driving and he's actually a great driver compared to everyone else I've ridden with here.

You can order online and have it shipped to your local boots for pick up. I think you only need £10 on your order for that. 😊

Cool! Maybe they changed it since I last used it ages ago.

They have Amy's Kitchen Gluten Free Mac and cheese at my Sainsbury's. Is it not the same?

This one:

Ah, you also need dairy free... So that's not helpful.

It was also a fair bit cheaper by unit through the wholesale place, but everything else at sainsbury's seems to have the same ingredients as back home so I'm hopeful! (They also had a million flavors of CoYo yogurt, so I'm looking forward to trying those too.)  SoDelicious had an awesome line of dairy free yogurt in the US and I miss that too. I'm not allergic to milk thankfully, but in any quantity it causes problems so I appreciate my ability to use ghee and eat sheep & goats cheese occasionally but can't go full out and eat regular mac n cheese.

I wasn't such a huge fan of Michael's tbh, but I'd take one now over Hobbycraft tbh. I REALLY miss Hobby Lobby. It's probably one of my favorite places to shop other than Lowe's. (B&Q is marginally ok)

Good luck with the shoe hunt. Thing here is that the store you're in may organize shoes by US size or UK size or EU size and sometimes women's sneakers are in the men's section (I've found this a lot with Vans and Converse) and it's just mostly a mess. TF for Dr Scholls.

As far as I can tell, these Campbell's are alright. Not quite as good as the American ones, but not completely bland. Just no regular damn condensed tomato.

Spaghetti-Os. Chef BOyardee Ravioli or Beefaroni. Velveeta Shells n Cheddar. Ramen noodles with freakin salt in the seasoning packet. Instant Cheddar and Broccoli Rice A Roni. (Why is it always stilton here?!?!)

TBH no I'm not positive it was real Skippy. It was super dry and bland (do they purposely suck the oil of the the peanuts here or what?), so probably not.

Ooh I love Frank's Red HOt. My Lidl has the real deal. There's also a North Carolina bbq sauce by Red's True Barbeque (I have a restaurant in NOtts too-omg it's great and they have cornbread-sweet but cornbread, and fired pickles with chipotle mayo to dip them in). It's great if you can find it (both my Asda and Tesco have it). Like a mustardy-bbq, not too sweet or thick.

which reminds me oddly...hot dogs in a can?! WHat is that malarkey? I will say no more to that weirdness.

I could talk about food I miss for forever and ever.

I thank my lucky stars that I can find Frank's Red Hot practically everywhere! It's in Asda, Morrison's, and Sainsbury... I think if there was no Frank's I might have to reconsider moving to the UK. I put that ish on everything!!  [smiley=laugh4.gif]

MissRadiohead...omg buttered popcorn. We go to the cinema a LOT and I've learned to just get salted....but it's not the same. I w2ant to swirl my fingers in the bottom of the bucket and get all the buttery goodness....and it's just not meant to be.
(See you're going to Penrith, I just stayed there this past weekend and ate at Salsa's...great place and great drinks and propbably the best nachos I've had since coming here)

words. Words and their meanings and pronunciations...dear sweet baby Jesus. I can't stop referring to trousers as pants to save my life. I also flat out refuse to say aluminium or fillet. It's aluminum and filet!

Yeah, the salty popcorn just doesn't make the grade but I settle for it because I just can't do the sweet stuff. Though sometimes I ask them to mix the salty and the sweet. Then it's kind of like kettle corn. My husband and stepdaughter are always offering me sweet foods. I'm like, stop it already!! I have told them a million times I prefer salt and they keep giving me sweets. I will not be converted! LOL!

And I feel you on the al-oo-MIN-ium and FIL-let thing. I just feel completely awkward saying either one. And I'm sure I sound even worse than I feel.

EDIT: I forgot to say - wow, you were in Penrith?!? Cool! Salsa is pretty good but I'm super spoiled about Mexican food having lived 18 years in Southern California. You're right about the nachos though. We love them!!

Similar thing happened to me, I was having coffee in the Oracle in Reading next to the theatre and they started unloading these giant 10 pound bags of stale popcorn to sell inside.  I was this close to administering a dose of American freedom and dumping all of it in the river.

My Tesco sells jiffy pop in the pie tin cooker thing and I love showing off to my kid's friends by making that.  They have no idea what to expect!  It helps that my kids are terrified because the first time I did it, I opened the thing incorrectly and popcorn got onto the stove and caught fire from the burner.  Popcorn is really flammable.

Ha ha ha!!! The visual I got of you setting the popcorn free... "Fly like the wind, popcorn!"  [smiley=laugh4.gif] [smiley=laugh4.gif]

I know it seems terrifying and you think you could never do it, but you have to make it a goal to get your UK license.  It is pure freedom and will make your life here so much more pleasant.

This is something I really need to set as my goal for 2019. Lol

I'm not afraid to drive here but Stuart hogs the car. I am paying for a car I don't get to use. I can see I'm going to need to buy myself a cheap beater.

I could but he loves that wee yellow car. He sends me picture messages of the car. He washes it a couple of times a week. It would be just as cruel to take away his cat. I'm not as fussed about what kind of car I drive right now. I had planned on buying a cheap car in the first place until he set eyes on Agnes.

It's like a real life love story. Boy meets car, car glistens in the sun. Boy takes car home. Never talks to wife again.  I may come out the winner here as my husband is a non stop talker.

But seriously, I forget he's had a rough life during certain periods and the things I take for granted, like owning a car, are huge for him.

I love that wee dafty.
